Friday, October 15, 2011, well known designer Sue Wong presented her new Spring 2011 Collection!  All we can say is “WOW…” The Bender Sisters graced the Red Carpet wearing Sue Wong designs, looking elegant and classy all the way!  They were joined by actors Brooke Burns, Melinda McGraw (Mad Men), Bella Thorne and her brother Remy, Alexandra Ella (Mad Men), and many more…

Sue Wong’s Spring 2011 Collection was inspired by Goddesses of The Silver Screen.  Sue’s designs were created with actresses from the 1920′s – 1930′s like Marlene Dietrich (for her glamour, magic, and transformation), Barbara Stanwyck (for her strength), Carole Lombard (for her sense of humor), and Jean Harlow( for her strength, sexuality and frankness). According to Sue, “these were the first modern women to influence the public with their ability to show us strength, humor, sexuality, and compassion.” Sue made a point of taking an element from each one of these starlets and put them into her spectacular 2011 Spring Collection!  The intricate materials used included feathers, beads, vintage lace, vintage trimming and so much more…Put it all together, slip one of her gowns on and be instantly transformed to The Silver Screen.

The Bender Sisters were quickly transformed into “goddesses” themselves as they were swept into the studio from the Red Carpet.  “We felt strong, glamorous, sexy, and invincible!  All of Sue’s key elements used to create her new Spring Collection.”

Before we even begin to describe our evening at The Sue Wong Fall Collection, we must first tell you how much we admire Sue and her accomplished career as an elegant dress designer and artist. She overflows with style, charm, & grace…not to mention talent.  The perfect combination of a true goddess…

After the Bender Sisters zipped through the Red Carpet wearing a Sue Wong gown and their favorite Jen and Kim heels, they headed up the stairs only to be blown away by the first of many breath taking designs from Sue’s New Fall Collection…Sue and her wonderful staff, created an Art Gallery styled presentation of Sue’s new designs.  A very unique twist on fashion…it was fun talking with the models and asking them about their hair and makeup experience for this show.  Mary, a model we’ve worked with before, told us it took a while to get her hair perfectly straight and sleek…Makeup was done by Christopher Castillo from MAC, who I have known for years.  Beth and I were both impressed with the finished look.

Sue’s New Fall Collection was inspired by the wide ranging, free thinking and free spirited eclecticism and romantic mystique of the Parisian soul. We loved her choice of Autumn colors which included:  earthy browns, rich greens, deep purples, reds and metallics. All of Sue’s designs seem to have a signature waist line embellished with intricate bead work that will flatter any woman who dares to wear her dresses.  This particular gown is “tre-perfect” for a night out on the town or a stroll along the Riviera…

Mary was wearing a Mahogany All-Over Embroidered Sheath Dress with Beaded Highlights and Hannah looked very chic in a Sue Wong Short Paneled Skirt Dress with Embellished Bodice. As we roamed around the showroom we spotted several other dresses/gowns embellished with ostrich & coq feathers, filigree lace, and organza petals.  One was more spectacular than the next…

We continued our way through the room meeting some interesting people who commented on our Sue Wong gowns!  We felt like Grecian princesses held back in time…what a powerful feeling…I even ran into a young celebrity I’ve known for several years…Bella Thorne, who has appeared in several billboard campaigns for H&M stores with my 7 year old daughter Ella, and plays Tancy Henrickson this season on HBO’s Big Love.

As the night came to a close the sisters got to hang out with one of Sue’s good friends Martin and his partner Danny, who told us what we already know…That Sue Wong is a “woman who knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to live her dream…”

Sue Wong lives to design…Her gorgeous dresses & gowns are romantic as well as timeless.  Just one glance will take your breath away…especially if you’re a die hard ‘romantic‘ like the Sisters!  Sue is known for bringing beauty & allure to women worldwide…

At the age of 6, Sue and her mother barely escaped communist China to join her father in Los Angeles.  It was the seductive & slinky styles of the silver screen, the decadence of Weimar Berlin, the fervor of Jazz Age Manhattan, the exotic intrigue of 1930′s Shanghai and the excitement of bohemian Paris that contributed to Sue’s shaping and inspiration for her fabulous Hollywood Style.  At 19, she opened a unique bohemian boutique on the famous Venice Beach Strip…It’s here where she created one of a kind gowns by embellishing them with embroidery & beads she took from fragmented vintage gowns.  Once she established her credibility as a fashion designer, she then began to create her signature line under her own name.  In 1985, together with her business partner Dieter Raabe they established The Sue Wong label for contemporary more playful daytime dresses.  In 1999, an elegant evening line was launched bringing much more success to Sue Wong designs and thus establishing Sue Wong Nocturne, her signature collection!
