Whoa! Check out these eyes on Julianne Moore seen here at a screening of Let Me In in Abu Dhabi. How could you not? They command attention, and although I am not loving the high top bun at all, I am dying over her eyes. If you had any question on what asmoldering smoky eyeshould look like, this is it in a nutshell.
To get the look, resist the urge to add too much color at once, and instead layer it for a more 3-dimensional effect. Starting with a lighter color first and then graduating to your darker shades. Julianne is working her look with copper, gold, and burgundy shadows that have a soft shimmer finish, and were applied directly to the eyes with fingers first, and then blended with a brush. Sweep a blend of the copper and burgundy shadow under the eyes too.
For the best smoldering smoky eye results do not add a primer to the eyelids before adding your shadows ( you want the color to grab). Finsh by lining the rim of eyes with a black waterproof eyeliner, and smudging slightly so the color bleeds into the shadow. You can clean up any eyeshadow with a Q-tip and eye cream before completing the look with concealer under the eyes.
As Bella Swan in the Twilight saga, Kristen Stewart kept her look simple and very girl-next-door. Her role as Joan Jett in The Runaways, however, is a different story, and she’s taking quite a different approach.
Take the hot pink lip color she was wearing at the movie’s premiere in New York City. To get Kristen’s look, celebrity makeup artist Beth Bender suggests blending a champagne and Gunmetal metallic shadow around the eyes, and contouring the face with a pearlescent shimmer before adding the finishing touch. “A rosy stain blended on the cheeks and lips kicks this look into rockstar worthy,” said Bender. The effect? A modern version of ’70s glam, and one that Joan Jett would definitely approve of.

A week in the life of reality show celebrity Kate Gosselin……
Earlier in the week Kate Gosselin took out her $7,000 extensions, showing off a new bob with lush, side-swept bangs on Wednesday in New York City, but on Saturday Days after sporting a bob with side-swept bangs, the reality mother of eight, put her extensions back in while speaking Saturday at the Women’s Expo in South Bend, Ind.
Earlier this week, her hair stylist Ted Gibson said that the 34-year-old mother of eight was switching up her ‘do in preparation for her Dancing With the Stars debut on March 22.
“We’re taking them out and we’re not putting them back in until Thursday, so she’ll have short hair for a day,” he told BSW, adding that he planned on using “three different shades of blonde, a caramel, a beige blond and a little bit of a lighter blonde.” All that sounds just great, but 7,000 for hair extensions that don’t even look like real hair?!She may be a celebrity, but she definitely needs to learn a thing or two about hair extensions.
Since she began Dancing With the Stars rehearsals, her children have not been thrilled by their mama’s absence. With five nannies tending to the kids they are still wondering “When is Mommy coming home?’” an insider tells BSW.
Although Gosselin insists her children are “happy and thriving and we’re working together while we figure out the new normal. While they’re in school I’m working hard as a mom, and a working and traveling mom. Balancing both. It’s very difficult.”
Before leaving the event on Saturday she asked attendees to vote for her on Dancing With the Stars, which kicks off next Monday. “I’m dancing everyday,” she said. “It is so out of the ordinary for me. I am counting on your votes, by the way. I don’t even care if I dance horribly. I need them. I need all the help I can get!
Ms. Winehouse pictured here out and about in London, was looking quite lovely compared to the usual emaciated look she so often has been seen in. Along with her new and improved complexion, were her signature Cat Eyes courtesy of Beth Bender Beauty’s Get in Line Eyeliner Kit. She was even seen purchasing a large bag full of vitamins and healthy food which seems to be working for her new and improved skin.
What’s the sudden change? We think it might be that Amy is preparing for her upcoming nuptials to her ex-husband, Blake Fielder Civil. And why shouldn’t Winehouse want to be beautiful on her wedding day.
The singer, 26, is often seen in scruffy ballet shoes and jeans which has brought her regular mentions on the worst dressed lists. But there’s no doubting her street-smart reputation and cultural impact, and one label has been ubiquitous in her wardrobe: British sportswear designer Fred Perry. Now, she has teamed with the firm, which is known for its Mod-style clean looks, to create a 17 piece clothing and accessories collection.
Winehouse and her fiancé have both been in and out of rehab, and have had a torrid on-and-off again relationship since they eloped in Miami in 2007, but still we wish her all the best on her upcoming nuptials, and her new clothing line for Fred Perry.
All we can say is we just l-o-v-e-d this look! From the dreamy cat eyes, to the ever-s0-sexy do, and sheer pale pink dress. The inspiration behind this fabulous look was ’60s-era Jean Shrimpton, who woke up after a late night of partying, makeup slept in from the night before, and hair casually twisted up before running out to get a cup of coffee? And thus, this disheveled updo and exaggerated eye makeup came alive at the Giambattista Valli show.
Makeup artist Val Garland created the look but added more to the eyes for a more modern feel. “Giambattista wanted a little Jean Shrimpton on the eyes, but in a modern way, so we’re pushing it more,” said Garland backstage. “The look is flirtatious and sexy.” You can say that again.
To create the pointy winged liner that stretched out to the temples, Garland painted on the triangular shape using a brown cream liner, then outlined it with black cream liner so the edges were sharp. About an inch below the eyes, she drew a thin line of white cream liner that carried out to the temples, and then stacked two false lash strips on top of one another, and glued them to the top lashes for a super sexy effect. With all this action around the eyes, she took it easy on the rest of the face, sculpting the cheeks with beige and caramel blushes and swiping M.A.C. Lipstick in Siss, a matte beige, on the mouths.
“The hair is meant to look as though it was just pulled together in a minute,” said hairstylist Orlando Pita of the loose chignon. Of course, in reality it took a bit longer than that. Pita curled the hair with an iron, then teased it and parted it on the side. He pinned the hair back into a messy low bun, leaving a number of tendrils falling loose around the face. “At thisshow, the clothes and makeup are so perfect and impeccable,” he said. “So it’s a nice balance when the hair is a little off and undone.”
We couldn’t agree more. To create the Cat Eyes seen here, try a Cat Eye Stencil which will create the look simply by placing over the eye, and filling in with color. Try the Get in Line Eyeliner & Stencil Kit, $36 (bethbenderbeauty.com)
