All Gold Eyeshadows Are Not Created Equal Especially When It Comes To A Sexy Smoky Eye

At a Paley Fest 2011 True Blood event in Beverly Hills, Anna Paquin rimmed her eyes with black kohl liner, but to add a twist on an already sexy look, she applied a golden-amber shimmer shadow that she smudged on her eyelids and underneath. The effect was smoldering, but in a very subtle way.

When choosing the right shade of gold remember that all golds are not created equal, so choose a color based on your skin tone to create the most impact. Fair skinned beauties like Ms. Paquin look great with mellow tones, while darker complexions can handle a richer, more gilded shade.
To get this look on yourself, check out Radiant Eye Shimmer in Kevyn. It’s the perfect golden-amber shade, and for a kohl eyeliner, benefit’s BADgal Waterproof liner in Black.

Perfect for Summer: The Sultry Brown Smoky Eye

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 1st July 2010

Model Ariadne Artiles is so gorgeous she could wear a potato sack, not a stitch of makeup, and still look amazing. It’s hard not to be mesmerized by those eyes, and her chiseled features, but that aside, this smoky bronze liner would actually look good on anyone, and it’s easy enough to create without the hassle of too many steps or tools.

Bronzesmokyeyes

To get the look we asked our resident beauty expert, and Creative Director of beth bender beauty, Beth Bender. “This is one of my favorite looks for summer, and by adding a little more color you can create instant drama for an evening look.” To do, start by applying a bronze colored eye pencil along the lashline, making the line slightly thicker than you might.

Next, with a black water-proof eyeliner, add a thin line along the lashes on top of the bronze color, and smudge into lashline. Apply only the bronze shimmer pencil underneath the eyes and smudge.

Using a pink-beige shadow, apply all over the eye area, and finish by adding a wash of brown shadow in the crease. To take the look from day to night, add more color in the crease of eye, liner underneath the eyes with your black liner, and finish by sweeping your brown shadow over the liner and smudging together for a smoldering effect. You can also add some pink-beige shadow to diffuse the brown and brighten the eyes.

Shimmery Smoky Eyes For The Holidays

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 3rd November 2009

Why not get a head start this Holiday season with gorgeous looks for any occasion. Don’t get left behind without the perfect tools for creating these sexy looks, like sultry smoky eyes seen here on Jennifer Lopez.

Get Holiday Smoky Eyes Like Jennifer Lopez

At the premiere of Michael Jackson’s This is It in Los Angeles, Jennifer went for a super-sized smoky eye with perfectly applied silver, navy, and plum shadows, but in our opinion, it was her eyeliner that got the BSW thumbs up! To make sure your eyeliner doesn’t budge, choose a creamy black pencil like benefits BADGal Eyeliner in black. It’s waterproof, goes on with ease, and will stay on for hours.

Apply along your lashline working from the outer corner towards the center of eye and tapering as you get to the inner lid. Glide the pencil along the inner rim of your top and bottom lid for the ultimate sexy finish. To accentuate your eyes try adding a sliver shimmer to the inner corners. A concealer brush works best and will ensure staying power as you go from party to party.

Sweep a navy or dark plum shadow underneath, and smudge the liner slightly to soften. Finish your perfect smoky eyes with a soft lip color in a soft pink or peach, Like XXX Luscious Lip Plumping Gloss in Mi Amore.

Beauty Tip: For smoky eyes that look like you had Gucci Westman in your bathroom, try the Get in Line Smoky Eyeliner Kit in Good Girl, Gone Bad. The colors are easy to blend, look beautiful, and the smoky eye stencil will help you with placement so there’s no guessing.

Sexy Smoky Eyes And How To Get Them With Ease

Posted by Beth on 20th May 2009

Smoky eyes seem to always make their way on to the red carpet, and in the case of Elizabeth Banks seen here at an event it was hard not to notice them. They were sultry and smokin’!

When creating a look like this keep the skin simple and fresh using a matte or sheer foundation depending on your complexion, for warmer weather a tinted moisturizer works well too. To create a sultry, smoky effect on the eyes use a combination of burgundy and violet shadows and apply to the lid and crease blending well. Accent the top and bottom lashline with a water-resistant gel liner in black, and smudge slightly with brush before it dries.

To give your smoky eyes an even more sensuous look, use a black waterproof eyeliner and line the inside rim of eyes. Not sure of how to do a smoky eye? Use a smoky eye stencil and do it with ease.

When doing a look like this where the focus is on the eyes, I recommend keeping the rest of your face soft and dusting most of the shimmer powder off your brush before sweeping it over your skin. This will stop you from applying too much color to your cheeks.

Finish with a pink or nude beige lip to give the eyes a perfect beauty balance.

How To Get Silvery, Smoky Eyes

Posted by admin on 1st May 2009

Nothing adds a twinkle to the eyes like a touch of silver. Mary-Kate Olsen seen here attended a Chanel dinner honoring the Tribeca Film Festival, oh how I miss New York, sporting an iridescent charcoal shadow, finished with a fine line of black eyeliner along the inner rims of her eyes.

How to get silvery smoky eyes with ease

Mary-Kate’s smoky eyes are those of a seasoned pro. This is a girl who knows smoky eyes, and this picture proves it. Makeup on the lower lashline will usually move down the face, resulting in a messy morning-after look. To get your sultry shadow to stay put like Mary-Kate’s try a waterproof eyeliner like BADgal from benefit or a gel eyeliner like onyx from beth bender beauty.

Finish by sweeping a silver shimmer under the eyes with a smudge brush to catch any color that falls and a touch on the eyelids as well.
