How To Get Perfect Smoky Eyes For Summer

The Perfect Smoky eyes anytime of the year can be a challenge when you are trying to re-create something from a magazine, or the runway. The trick to achieving them not only requires the right eye shadows, but also the right tools.

A good brush set is a good place to start. You really only need a few to do a smoky eye. The first is a full size shadow brush for all over color, or to apply color to the eyelid, the second is a blender brush for applying color to the crease of eye, and the third is a smudge brush that softens the color (especially under the eye) and gives them their alluring look.

Once you have selected and purchased your brushes, keeping them in good condition will depend on how you care for them, and will also play a very big role in the actual application of your smoky eyes. Brushes that are used everyday, and more than once, should be cleaned at least twice a month.

To clean your brushes, you can buy a brush cleanser like Bobbi Brown’s which is the best, or use a gentle shampoo, and using just a drop placed in the palm of your hand, dampen your brush, and swirl it around into the shampoo. Rinse under luke warm water until the color runs off the brush. Try to get only the brush hairs wet, and squeeze out any excess water before placing your brush on a shelf so that the hairs are not touching, and are extended beyond the width of shelf.

Jennifer Aniston’s Steamy Smart Water Ads

This picture immediately brings that famous Rupaul song to my ears. You know the one, “you better woooork!” Jennifer Aniston is living proof that 40 is the new 20. Revealing her killer abs in the newest workout-inspired Smart Water ad, Jennifer proves she doesn’t have to sweat it when it comes to looking hotter than ever.

Currently running in magazines, this shot has 41-year-old Aniston wearing dark workout wear that highlights her amazing muscle tone.

JenniferAniston

“My workout partner,” reads the copy. “Working out feels great… afterwards. That’s why I drink Smart. It’s hydration I can feel. (And it’s one part of my routine I never sweat.)”

Besides the beverage, Aniston — whose latest round of Smart Water ads also show her in bed, and in the kitchen, credits yoga with keeping her in top form.

“It completely changed my life,” says the star, who combines her poses with a mix of cardio and toning exercises. One thing she doesn’t do is follow a baby food diet,  a growing rumor that’s been making the rounds.

“Sorry, but the last time I had baby food, I believe I was 1,” Aniston told People magazine. “I’ve been on solids for about 40 years now.”

In fact, Aniston says, she doesn’t deprive herself at all. “Look I eat really well and I work out, but I also indulge when I want to,” she told Harper’s Bazzar UK.

“I don’t starve myself in an extremist way. You’re not taking away my coffee or my dairy or my glass of wine because I’d be devastated. “My advice: Just stop eating s–t every day.” Well, we couldn’t agree more with that, but what about the smoking Jen? Have you given that up?

One thing I have always found so strange about those who work out. Especially when they care so much about how they look, and what they eat. In any case she does look unbelieveable, and I can attest to the fact that yoga is indeed life changing not only for your body, but also for your mind.

Layered Hair: In or Out?

Posted by The Girls at BSW on 18th May 2010

When it comes to hair styles, one of the most popular for years has been a layered cut. Long and sexy, short and shagged, and of course our favorite, soft and feathered made famous by Farrah Fawcett. But when hairstylist Mark Townsend of the new Marie Robinson Salon in New York City declared he was over layers, BSW wanted to know why?

HairLayer

“I’m not really into layers right now,” said Townsend. “They can look a little ’90s.” Instead, he recommends that clients such as Ashley Olsen go light on layers, a technique that he says makes hair look fuller and healthier. “I even like it when the hair looks heavy at the bottom,” he says.

To give your hair fullness at home, Townsend is in favor of hot rollers, and suggests wrapping just the bottom of your hair around the tool for subtle volume, and going all the way up to the scalp for more lift. We tried both, and preferred the all the way up to the scalp better, but we do love our layers even if they seem a bit 90s’.
