Here are a few tips to help you apply blush the right way...

tips on picking the right blush

Find the Appropriate Shade:

Going for the right shade of blush can make a huge difference. It makes your skin look healthy and complexion more radiant. It’s the best and simplest anti-aging makeup out there. So the question is - which color will work for you? What should you go for?

If you’re fair in color then go for natural pinks and if you’re dark then plum or berry tones will look great. In case you’ve got olive skin, then copper or peach would be a good choice. No matter what color you choose, try to avoid “shimmer" in the pigment. Also, don’t forget to use a good nourishing skin cream to perfect the look.

Choose the Right Formula:

Deciding between powder and cream can sometimes be confusing but it doesn’t have to be that way. When it comes to choosing your blush type, if you’ve got oily skin try using a gel or powder blush since they tend to stay on longer. The powder based formulas also have more pigment, which means they’ll work great in winter.

Have normal or dry skin, use cream based blush. It doesn't settle into your “fine lines” and they're more translucent which helps get that natural look. Regardless of what type you go for, make sure you are comfortable with it and it matches your natural skin coloring.

Buy a Quality Blush Brush:

If you want your blush to be effective, then don’t ignore the quality of blush brush that you’re using. The results won’t be satisfying if you go for a cheap brush. Also, stay away from any makeshift items like powder puffs or cotton wool balls since most of the blush adheres to them and you'll end up wasting a lot of your blush.

Besides the quality, the size of the brush matters too. Go for a small one instead of a big, fluffy one. A good brush doesn’t have its bristles spread out, but they’re rather densely packed. Remember, the better your blush brush is, the easier it will be for you to get more natural results.

Get Your Placement Right:

While the blush texture you use is important, what’s also important is how you apply the blush. The best way to start is to swirl it around your cheeks (on the apples). To make the blush even more effective, blend it back by brushing on your cheeks and taking it towards the temples. The idea is to apply blush a little bit higher than where you think it should be applied. This allows it to run across the top area of your cheekbones. It also helps your cheeks look more full and defined while making your whole face look bright.

The most important thing to remember outside of the type of blush and brush you use, is how well you apply it. So go ahead and have fun with these blush tips to make the most out of your "blush experience."
