Last night the Bender Sisters were at The Arcona Studio in Santa Monica, indulging our senses with the new Lemongrass & Citrus scent from The Glade Fragrance Collection. It was hosted by the lovely Alison Deyette, TV Host/Stylist/Lifestyle Expert.

While chatting and eating we discovered how multi talented Alison Deyette is.  She has been a television correspondent for national news and entertainment programs including ABC’s “The View,”  for many years.  Alison also styles homes, has been a runway producer, print journalist, and fashion director.  Her newly launched Ali On The Go website, focuses on eco- friendly & green shopping, travel, style picks for local as well as international destinations and tips for fashion.  The Bender Sisters and Ali knew a lot of the same people…As Beth would say, “six degrees of Kevin Bacon…”

Beth and I were treated to a massage by Erin and the girls who run Arcona Studio, established in Los Angeles in 1989, were busy giving facials to some of the other guests.  This facial, massage spa uses only the finest natural ingredients on their clients.  They are available for purchase at the store as well as on line.

What a mess this girl is…To go from super stardom at such a young age to crash and burn at 24 is just a total waste of a young life!  How many chances can one person get and still dive down…?

Lindsay Lohan in court not looking rather tired

Lindsay is looking very haggard and much older than her 24 years.  What will it take for this once very successful actress to get her life back on track?  As of July 20, 2010 she began her 3 month sentence behind bars for violating her DUI probation.  Anyone else would have been doing time immediately and for a longer period of time!  Get it together girl…

And here’s the kicker, because of over crowding, Lindsay might only serve 2 weeks at a regional detention facility in Lynwood, California and then head over to an inpatient rehab program for 90 days.  That’s BS folks!  If it were me or you our ass would be there for the full 90 days and then some!  People even think this will increase her popularity and bring her more money… Sad but probably true…

Not a great role model for the Youth of America

Unfortunately, if Lindsay doesn’t pull her head out of her ass, she most likely won’t see a very bright future.  Let’s hope she does…

Angelina Jolie came out to party last night at Grauman’s Chinese Theater for the premiere of her newest flick, Salt. The spy thriller brought out many of Hollywood’s heavy hitters, and fans were thrilled to catch a glimpse of the power couple who signed autographs, and posed for pictures on the red carpet before heading into the theater.

The guest of honor looked positively radiant with beau Brad Pitt on her arm. Wearing a simple, sexy beaded LBD by Emporio Armani paired with nude peep-toe Ferragamo pumps. Brad looked dashing in a three-piece suit by Tom Ford.  “I haven’t worked in over a year,” Jolie told BeautyStyleWatch. “I had two babies, I’ve been in my nightgown. So it was nice to get out, get aggressive, and do some serious stunts for the film.”  We asked her what Brad thinks of her roles as an action hero? “He likes it,” she said with a smile. “We met that way. When I’m home with the kids I just feel like somebody’s mom. But when I am working I feel very empowered. I love both.” See ladies, you can have it all.

Of course we couldn’t resist asking about the rumors going around town saying she is slated to play Cleopatra. Jolie replied: “I would be honored. I am fascinated by her. I love history, I love that part of the world. But we haven’t gotten the script yet, so we’ll see.”

Well, one thing she won’t have to worry about is mastering the art of Cleopatra’s Cat Eyeliner. This has been her signature look for so long, and nobody does it better than Angie.

All we can say is OMG!  We had such a fabulous time hanging out in the Degree Tent with the Unilever team and the girls from Weber Shandwick:)  After our 2 hour shoot with Bravo TV for a new Reality show in which we were personally styled by celebrity stylist Patrick, we hopped into a limo from Music Express with David at the wheel, then zipped off to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine for a female music fest of a lifetime!  At the VIP gate we were greeted by Janna and Lauren from Weber Shandwick, then personally escorted to The Degree Natureffects For Women Tent alongside the other beauty reporters…

The tent was absolutely beautiful, filled with fresh flowers, comfy sofas, food, drinks and a huge flat screen featuring the music of sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robinson from the Dixie Chicks.  An immediate “Degree Sisterhood” was formed by all of us in this special tent.  The Sisters were treated like royalty from beginning to end…It was a magical day!!!

Our new found Sisterhood headed to a press conference around 5:00 pm, where we met the Lilith Fair line up which included:  Sarah McLachlan, Emmylou Harris, Brandi Carlile, The Weepies, Jes Hudak, Molly Jenson, Miranda Lambert and Elizaveta. I asked Sarah why there had been such a long gap between Fairs. She replied, “we all had children and needed a break.  Once our kids were older we felt ready to get back to the tour.” The panel was also asked what their idea of “beauty was.” Inner beauty seemed to be the unanimous answer of the day.  They agreed that if they felt good inside, they were good to go all around!  BRAVO!!!  The Bender Sisters thought this an excellent answer:)

What I found interesting was that these female artists were like family.  You could sense the genuine feelings for each other which was a breath of fresh air.  Their views on being a woman in today’s society were very similar as well as their admiration for their female predecessors who helped pave the way for them…

The conference ended with Sarah McLachlan presenting a check to Downtown Women’s Center in LA.  This shelter has helped thousands of women get back on their feet…and what a beautiful way to end the conference!

Lilith Fair 2010, sponsored by Degree Natureffects as well as other generous companies, is bringing women together this summer from all walks of life, lifting them up and honoring all females for their strength, power, wisdom and love!  For every woman who attends Lilith Fair 2010, including the fabulous line up of female artists (which does vary from city to city)…a big thumbs up!

The rest of our day was spent listening to the inspirational voices of Brandi Carlile, Emmylou Harris, Miranda Lambert and the amazing talent of Sarah McLachlan. The night ended with all the girls gathering on the main stage to sing “Because the Night,” by Patti Smith.

This was a day to remember and The Bender Sisters want to thank the following people who made it all happen…

Tomorrow is the day!!!  The Bender Sisters are off to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, Ca to cover the Lilith Fair 2010.  Degree Women Natureffects has been kind enough to invite us as their guests to hang with the powerful women behind Lilith, listen to great music, and have a little fun while we’re at it!!!

At the grand opening of The Casino Club at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur springs West Virgina, Jennifer Garner showed Jessica Simpson, and Brooke Shields, a bit of her native state.

Forever the southern belle, she posed for pictures on the red carpet looking quite stunning alongside Jessica and Brooke, and when the topic turned to beauty and smoky eyes, both Jessica and Brooke pulled out their BFF Get in Line Smoky Eye Kit before making their way into The Casino Club. Later that night one of our BSW Beauty Insiders caught Jessica Simpson in the powder room adding a touch more smoke to her already sultry smoky eyes.

After almost 11 years, The Lilith Fair is back, and the excitement surrounding the festival has been crazy. It began with its first show in Calgary on June 27th, and will finish up on August 3rd in Washington, DC.  The good news is they are hitting so many cities, so anyone who wants to enjoy a day of outstanding artists and music can grab a ticket.

Celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg explains below how she created Julia’s Red Carpet Beauty Look!

Face

“I started by using mark Mist Opportunity Multi-tasking Refresher to prep the face and applied mark For Goodness Face Antioxidant Skin Moisturizing Lotion all over Julia’s skin. Next, I added a touch of mark Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter in Golden under the eye area and mark Get A Tint Tinted Moisturizer Lotion SPF 15 Honey/Golden to even out her complexion. To give her a naturally radiant look, I dusted mark Bronze Pro Bronzing Powder everywhere except for her cheeks. To really emphasize her cheeks, I used a combination of mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Cheeky and Peachy and then lightly swept mark Glowdacious Illuminating Powder in Amped Up to the apples of her cheeks.”

Eyes

“I began by prepping her eyelids with the mark Please Hold Eye Primer in Medium/Dark to create a strong base for her eye makeup. I then applied a combination of three mark I-mark Custom Pick Eyeshadows to her eyes. I swept Magic across her lids, blended Latte into the crease and added Whisper under the brow bone. To add definition to her eyes, I applied the black shade of mark Keep It Going Longwear Eyeliner and Eyeshadow in Entourage to her top lash line and used the gold shade of mark Keep It Going Longwear Eyeliner and Eyeshadow in Iconic along the lower lash line. I finished her eyes with one coat of mark Scanda-Lash Hook Up Mascara in Blacklash for thickness and a second coat of mark Lash Splash Hook Up Waterproof Mascara in Black to lengthen and hold her lashes for the night.”

Lips

“I prepped Julia’s lips with mark Kiss Dry Goodbye Lip Smoother. To get her bold lip, I applied mark Kissink Lip Tintmarker in Red Siren topped with mark Gloss Gorgeous Stay On Lip Stain in Lolli.”

Hard to believe that this gorgeous gal is transformed into a werewolf…

We are on a celebrity craze at BSW, and haven’t slowed down since last weeks Premiere of Get Him To The Greek, Celebrities On the Loose in NYC, and now Sunday nights MTV Movie Awards that were held at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles. Katy Perry performed in the sexiest cat eyes ever, and celebrities like Scarlett Johansson, Paris Hilton, Kristen Stewart, and Vanessa Hudgens all graced the carpet in beth bender beauty style. It was the first public appearance and red carpet event for Sandra Bullock since her break up with husband Jesse James in March. She looked absolutely beautiful, and even made a few jokes about her life in the last few months, but one thing was for sure, being a mom definitely agreed with her.

Her sultry, smoky eyes, soft golden waves, and strapless, laced green dress were both a big hit with the girls at BSW, and for the evening.
