Julianna Marguiles’s hair and makeup look created with L’Oreal Paris–get the look here

Posted by Cindy Bokma on 30th January 2012

Julianna Marguiles was positively beautiful at last nights SAG awards! Makeup artist Kristopher Buckle, and hairstylist, Matthew Monzon, share their  tips on how to copy Julianna’s  look! I’m a huge fan of L’Oreal Paris products, especially the lip glosses and mascaras.

HAIR/ Step by Step How-To:

Starting with freshly washed hair Matthew used the L’Oréal Paris EverStyle Curl Activating Mousse, distributed from root to end with a large tooth comb placing hair in a finger wave going back and away from the face.

Matthew diffused her hair until it was dry. He then took a “1″ barrel iron and spot waved it to create truly defined curls. Once the desired texture was achieved, Matthew combed his fingers through her curls to loosen up the wave.

To smooth out the look, Matthew used the L’Oréal Paris EverStyle Alcohol-Free Smooth & Shine Crème & Serum throughout her entire head. He finished the look with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Unscented Hairspray to lock Julianna’s hair into place.

Makeup Artist: Kristofer Buckle

Inspiration: For Julianna’s makeup, Kris was inspired by her dove grey, pearlescent Calvin Klein dress. Using a color palette of pastels, he wanted to create a feminine look that matched the radiant glow of her jewelry and gown.

MAKEUP/ Step by Step How-To:

Kris kept Julianna’s skin looking flawless with L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in Soft Ivory and L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Serum Age Reversing Concealer in Light which worked together to accentuate her olive skin tone.

For a pearlescent glow he applied L’Oréal Paris Magic Smooth Soufflé Blush to the apples of her cheeks in Plume.

The eyes were romantic, highlighted by smoky shades of L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Sultry Smoke and Iced Latte (accenting the corners of her eyes).

Three coats of L’Oréal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara in Black was applied to frame the eyes.

Lips were vibrant but simple with a hint of pink using L’Oreal Infallible 8 HR Le Gloss in Pink Topaz.

Get the look–Dianna Agron’s hair at the 2012 SAG Awards

Posted by Cindy Bokma on 30th January 2012

I love Dianna Agron’s upswept hair here! Read on  to learn how to get the look…

INSPIRATION: celebrity hairstylist  Adir Abergel wanted to create a romantic up-do to mimic the movement of  Dianna’s dress.

How To Get the Look: Adir began by applying Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream from the roots to the ends of the wet hair to create texture. He then rough-dried the hair with his hands. After the hair was completely dry, he sprayed Fekkai Oceanique Tousled Waved Spray throughout the hair, and rough dried it through once more. To begin the up-do Adir took a section of the hair from the top of the left ear and created a long fishtail braid.

He then wrapped that braid around the front of the head like a crown, leaving the hair underneath loose and undone. Adir then took the rest of the hair and created three more fishtail braids, ultimately twisting them together in the back of the head and securing them with hairpins. To hold the look Adir sprayed Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray .

All products by Fekkai: Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream ($25), Fekkai Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray ($25),  Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray ($25). Available at Fekkai.com and Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

Get the look: Katherine Heigl at the One for the Money premiere

Posted by Cindy Bokma on 26th January 2012

I’ve long been a fan of Janet Evanovich’s fun novels about bounty hunter Stephanie Plum. In  my own mind, I had the roles of the characters cast including Sandra Bullock as Stephanie Plum and Dwayne Johnson as  sexy Ranger. But for some reason, the producers didn’t consult me before casting the film!? The plum role (har har) went to Katherine Heigland here she is at the  premiere.

If you are a starlet looking to make a splash on the red carpet, the color RED will do the trick. With the right hair and makeup, red can be not only flattering but bold and eye catching. But we arent here to talk about her dress which I really like. We are dissecting her coif!

“Celebrity hairstylist David Babaii created her red carpet look using Grace Kelly as his inspiration. To transform your tresses from brown to a “Hollywood Blonde” David recommends using the professional hair color Aquarly 20/20 by IT&LY HAIRFASHION to achieve a long-lasting, natural and healthy looking shade.

To create this Grace Kelly inspired look, David started with IT&LY’S Advanced Color Protection Shampoo and Conditioner. After gently towel drying, he applied a small amount of Miracle Oil Hair Elixir by David Babaii for its intense conditioning benefits, superior color preservation and thermal protection.

Next, after blow drying, he used a medium sized curling iron creating curls and directing them off the face and under. To style, David lightly back brushed the fringe area for some height and smoothed this lightly with a medium paddle brush.

He continued the style by using his fingers to loosen the curls into soft waves and drawing all the hair into a loose chignon toward the back of the head and securing with silver coated bobby pins. David finished the style with IT&LY HAIR FASHION’S Pure Definition Hair Spray.”

Oscar Alert: 2012 Academy Awards Nominations Are In!

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 24th January 2012

Get ready people…Awards season has almost reached its’ climax.  Today the nominations are out for the 84th Annual Academy Awards.  And the nominees are already thinking about How to get Red Carpet Ready!  Time to plump up that skin, keep that brow from moving and slim down enough to fit the most gorgeous gowns in the world!…What treatments will these stars splurge on this year to look their best?  Here are a few BSW beauty and fashion suggestions for some fellow nominee’s…

top celebrities nominated for academy awards

Get ready for the 84th annual Academy Awards

Let’s start with Michelle Williams for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in “My Week With Marilyn.”  She did a wonderful job as Marilyn and we loved her hair just a bit longer.  Michelle doesn’t need much help.  However, her hair could use a little help!  Although she prefers her “Peter Pan” cut, the shape of her face could use just a wee bit of length.  We see Michelle wearing a long fitted light colored gown, with an open back, and simple diamond earrings since ‘diamonds are a girls best friend…

Michelle Williams

Next is seasoned actress Glenn Close for her performance in “Albert Nobbs,” the turn of the century Irish writer who was really a woman.

Glenn Close as Albert Nobbs

Ms. Close might choose to do a few touch ups before her stroll down The Red Carpet.  Glenn could use a good facial to brighten up her skin followed by some botox around her eyes, mouth, and forehead.  This will give her a more relaxed youthful look to keep up with her younger competitors.  Although Ms. Close tends to wear suits to these affairs, we’re hoping to see her in a long luxurious gown by Vera Wang or Versace in either black or red.  A diamond/pearl studded choker with matching earrings and gloves that go up the length of her arms, would be the perfect accessories for this classy elegant lady…

best supporting actors for 2012 academy awards

Actress Melissa McCarthy for Best Supposrting Actress in "Bridesmaids"

We are HUGE fans of Melissa McCarthy.  But Melissa, you need a new personal makeup artist!  Our on staff celebrity makeup artist Beth Bender, is already on call for a few stars but would be more then happy to help you!  Melissa could definitely use a new hair style and should never wear red lipstick again!  Definitely not her color.  Let’s start her off at Byu-ti Hair Therapy located in Santa Monica.  Already home to celebs Adele and Kim Kardashian.  Owner Natasha Sunshine and her entire staff will make Melissa look Red Carpet Ready in no time!  Melissa would look great in a Calvin Klein blazer with a long skirt…maybe even a side split up her left leg.  Her hair up with a few loose curls cascading around her face.

nominated for best actress 2012 academy awards

Viola Davis nominated for Best Actress 2012 Academy Awards

Our last Celebrity Red Carpet Pick is Viola Davis for her performance in “The Help.“  In person, Viola always looks great.  Her character Aibileen, a maid in the early 1960′s, could definitely have used some help (no pun intended).  BSW just loves her look and Viola might only need a good rub down to keep her stress level and nerves at ease.  We are hoping to see her grace The Red Carpet wearing a classic gown with a bit of a trail in copper, gold or silver to match her beautiful deep dark skin tone.  Viola will have no problem wearing a red lip color, (unlike Ms. McCarthy), with a silvery/grey smoky eye with just a touch of black eye liner.

FYI: Any celebrity or lucky person who walks The Red Carpet this year at The 84th Annual Academy Awards should book an appointment today for Obagi’s fabulous Blue Peel Radiance.  The absolute best facial peel to reveal brighter and more radiant skin!  The Bender Sister’s have already made their appointment.  Visit Obagi Medical Products to locate the nearest physician or clinician in your area:)

We’re looking forward to seeing all of our favorite stars walk The Red Carpet at The Kodak Theater, on February 26, 2012.  Don’t miss it gals and guys!

Beauty Look of the Day: Diane Kruger

Posted by Cindy Bokma on 25th October 2011

Aside from a minor case of shiny skin, Diane Kruger looks gorgeous! I’ve proclaimed my adoration of her beauty before. Those beautiful blue eyes and sharp cheekbones coupled with a chiseled jaw…she’s model-level gorgeous and she knows how to rock the red carpet.

Diane Kruger

I like her look here.  She’s made up without looking like she’s a wearing a ton of makeup, a difficult feat as you probably know. I am reminded to groom my eyebrows like Diane’s, see how a nice pair of brows really accentuates the eyes? Her eye-makeup is flattering in shades of browns, the cheeks are rosy and pink and the lip color is medium pink. Unfussy hair looks polished without trying too hard.

This is a favorite  look. What do you think?

Get The Look: Olivia Wilde at The Premiere Of “Butter”

Olivia Wilde‘s hairstyle was simple and chic while wearing an elaborate Grecian-style Marchesa gown at the Butter premiere in Toronto on Tuesday night.

Olivia’s knot-inspired bun was styled by hair pro Couture Colour Brand Ambassador David Babaii making sure her ‘do channeled red-carpet glamour as opposed to Saturday-morning errands.  Check out how to get Olivia’s Red Carpet hair look…

First Babaii applied Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment ($32, couturecolour.com) to Wilde’s wet hair which protected it from the hot tools while making it easy to manage and giving the hair a natural luster and shine.

Then, after blow-drying her hair, he took random sections and wrapped them around a 2.5-inch curling iron in different directions to add additional texture and volume.

Lastly, he swept her hair and bangs back into a bun and secured with bobby pins to finish off the look.

And voila…Now you are Red Carpet ready…

Fashion Night Out In New York and Los Angeles With The Celebs

Posted by BSW Buzz on 12th September 2011

Fashion’s Night Out has become a star studded event.  Everyone puts together their most stylish outfits and heads out to go shopping and celebrity watching!  So make sure your camera is battery ready cause you never know who you might run into:)!  Here are just a few celebrities that BSW came across…

best online celebrity site

Sarah Jessica Parker, Hayden Paniettiere, Rachel Bilson, Nicole Richie

This past Thursday was no exception!  The crowds were huge across the nation and “regular Jane’s” were shopping next to Hollywood A-Listers…What more could you ask for.  “It was a big success for retailers and makes a fun night for all,” Nicole Richie told BSW.

The lovely Sarah Jessica Parker graced New York City by autographing shoes at Manolo Blahnik, getting serenaded by Oscar de la Renta at his Madison Avenue store and ending her evening at the Fred Leighton boutique.  Of course she had her white Manolo Blahnik heels to match her black leather Prabal Gurung dress.

Hayden Panettiere helped unveil Stuart Weitzman’s Young Hollywood Cares Collection for Ovarian Cancer Research in New York City wearing a plunging Fendi jumpsuit and black ankle boots that she actually co-designed for the philanthropic shoe line.

Over here in our neck of the woods, Los Angeles, Rachel Bilson made a pit stop at Sunglass Hut sporting a Vanessa Bruno skirt and blazer, ALC tank, Luv AJ headpiece, with Chloe wedges and carrying a Phillip Lim bag.  The adorable Nicole Richie was a host at the Beverly Center festivities wearing a boho-chic purple maxi dress by her own Winter Kate line and a sparkling headband.  BSW just loved her dress!
