With just two weeks left in the competition the designers turned up the volume on last night’s episode of NBC’s “Fashion Star”, and so did Suave Professionals® Celebrity Stylist Theodore Leaf and his team. Look 1: Designer Nikki strolls into the salon looking to Theodore to create a sexy, messy look.  As Theodore knows, sometimes designers need a special element that gives them an edge. He decides on bang extensions to instantly transform Monroe and give her a whole new look!

Look 2: Designer Orly initially asks for a high ponytail with a long braid but Theodore immediately nixes this idea as he is “so over ponytails!” Theodore decides to spice up the look by creating French pigtail braids but with a twist, of course!

Want to switch to a lighter hue for spring? Take a tip from Smash star Megan Hilty, whose sunny blond shade hit all the right notes at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York City. “Megan is the perfect mix of sexy and angelic that pulls off the ultra blond look perfectly,” said her colorist Kyle White. “Her color requires a strong developer, so stay away from DIY dyes and go to a salon to recreate this shade.”

If your natural hair is darker than Hilty’s, White suggests keeping the two most important factors in mind before committing to a hue: Skin tone and eye color. “Try taking a look at childhood photos,” advised White. “Our hair starts to darken as we age, and it often loses its luster. If you had a golden head of hair as a child, chances are, that color will be flattering on you now.”

Step 1: First, Jordyn washes and towel dries her hair, just removing the excess moisture and ensuring that the hair is still damp for the treatment. She then applies Suave Professionals® Keratin Infusion™ Smoothing Cream to every section of the hair, starting at the nape and working her way up until all hair is covered. Theodore ensures she combs each section for even distribution. After waiting twenty five minutes, the appropriate amount of time for Jordyn’s hair type as illustrated in the kit’s instructions, Theodore is amazed at how much smoother her hair looks wet after only step one!

Nothing says “Hollywood glamour” like a classic red lip. Instead of taking the retro route, Minka Kelly gave her look a modern edge with a swipe of shiny gloss. Red lipstick looks best with a clean shape, so be sure to line lips with a nude lip liner before puckering up.

Choose a liner that is slightly lighter than your lipstick, but in the same color family so the two shades blend together. Crimson lip liner may come off as harsh, and if it’s not a perfect match, the effect will have too much contrast. Finish by smoothing a clear gloss over your pout, and apply eye makeup with a light hand. With this look, your lips should be the standout feature.

Look 2: Designer Barbara wants an elegant look for model Lauren. Her inspiration is Angeline Jolie, which leaves Theodore momentarily perplexed. Matching your lips to your dress used to be a beauty faux pas, but what about matching your eyes and lips? We loved the way Shay Mitchell harmonized her eyes and lips at the ABC Family Upfront for Pretty Little Liars.  Her warm shadow was perfectly complimented by her rosy gloss.

To avoid looking too color coordinated when going for a similar look on your eyes and lips, celebrity makeup artist Beth Bender suggests sticking to more neutral tones on the eyes, and choosing a sheer lip gloss in coordinating colors. “This gives the lips a subtle pop of color, while the sheer finish keeps the effect from being too overdone”, says Bender.

Everyone knows how we feel about Diane Kruger.  And you definitely know how we feel about rose gold eye makeup. Together we just want to jump up and down for joy because we love this look!!!!

There’s a cocoa brown eyeshadow blended in outer half of the creases of her eyes and just down below her lower lashline to give her eyes an extra pop factor. Then there’s a softer, rose gold shimmer on the inner half of her upper lids, and in the inner corners, it’s all about a true metallic gold. All three colors together create an overall rose-gold effect that’s both romantic and on-trend.
