All we can say is we just l-o-v-e-d this look! From the dreamy cat eyes, to the ever-s0-sexy do, and sheer pale pink dress. The inspiration behind this fabulous look was ’60s-era Jean Shrimpton, who woke up after a late night of partying, makeup slept in from the night before, and hair casually twisted up before running out to get a cup of coffee? And thus, this disheveled updo and exaggerated eye makeup came alive at the Giambattista Valli show.

Makeup artist Val Garland created the look but added more to the eyes for a more modern feel. “Giambattista wanted a little Jean Shrimpton on the eyes, but in a modern way, so we’re pushing it more,” said Garland backstage. “The look is flirtatious and sexy.” You can say that again.

To create the pointy winged liner that stretched out to the temples, Garland painted on the triangular shape using a brown cream liner, then outlined it with black cream liner so the edges were sharp. About an inch below the eyes, she drew a thin line of white cream liner that carried out to the temples, and then stacked two false lash strips on top of one another, and glued them to the top lashes for a super sexy effect. With all this action around the eyes, she took it easy on the rest of the face, sculpting the cheeks with beige and caramel blushes and swiping M.A.C. Lipstick in Siss, a matte beige, on the mouths.

“The hair is meant to look as though it was just pulled together in a minute,” said hairstylist Orlando Pita of the loose chignon. Of course, in reality it took a bit longer than that. Pita curled the hair with an iron, then teased it and parted it on the side. He pinned the hair back into a messy low bun, leaving a number of tendrils falling loose around the face. “At this show, the clothes and makeup are so perfect and impeccable,” he said. “So it’s a nice balance when the hair is a little off and undone.”

Blake Lively paired a soft, metallic pink shadow with an artfully applied winged cat liner. “A pale pink shimmer shadow, and vibrant pink lip gloss compliment the Gossip Girl’s very alluring eyes,” says celebrity makeup artist Beth Bender who has worked with Blake in the past.

The pink shimmer shadow goes perfectly with her golden locks, and sun-kissed skin. To get the look says Bender, “When you’re wearing such a soft shadow, you need a strong eyeliner that won’t budge.” “Apply a gel liner, like Onyx Stay Put Gel Liner ($18, bethbenderbeauty.com), in an outer sweeping direction, ending the wing at the edge of the brow.”

Beth’s Beauty Tip: The easiest way to achieve a perfect cat eye, is to start by creating the shape with a Cat Eyeliner Stencil, and then applying the gel liner over to set the shape and color. To do, hold the cat eyeliner stencil over your eye, and with your brush, sweep a charcoal shade across the lid, and remove. Wipe, and repeat on the other eye.

At the Armani Prive Haute Couture fashion show in Paris, Anne Hathaway sported a fresh, modern eyeliner that brought back fabulous memories of her role in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’.

To get the look, celebrity makeup artist Beth Bender says start by lining the rim of your eyes and dotting in between the lashes using a waterproof eyeliner pencil like benefit’s BADGal  Waterproof liner in black. You can smudge or leave alone depending on what works for you. Then, using an eyeliner stencil, place above your eye and with a small eye shadow brush, sweep the color along line. Repeat the same underneath the eye using the bottom eyeliner stencil. This will keep the color as close to the lash line as possible like Anne’s, and will prevent it from bleeding.

If you prefer your liner a little thicker at the ends, go over the liner starting at the middle of eye and out towards the end. Set with an eyeliner sealant or go over the liner with a gel liner. To complete the “Anne Hathaway Look”, apply at least one, or two generous coats of black mascara, starting at the base of lashes and working your way to the tips. Beth Bender’s beauty tip: The trick to getting them just right says Beth is to “make sure to always use a freshly sharpened eye pencil when lining the inner rims of your eyes.” Using a powder shadow, liquid liner, or an unsharpened pencil can irritate your eyes and spread infections which nobody likes.

Are you ready for another round of bold, bright colors on the eyes for spring? Well if you answered yes, then get ready for some gutsy ’80s looks that will be screaming the fabulous Studio 54, and have you digging out that disco ball you packed away ages ago. Winged eyeliner in electric blues, and gorgeous smoky eyes in eye popping lavenders.

“For an evening look, be brave and don’t be afraid to play with color,” says Beth Bender our favorite makeup guru. “It’s all about having fun with your makeup.” And if the looks you see from the runway are too bold for your style of makeup, don’t worry, there are equally stylish, more subtle alternatives.

“You can do a classic smoky eye and add a little blue at the center of the lid, or extend out for a more dramatic look as seen in the top photo. Or you can do  just a touch of color by doing a wet blue dot on the inner corner of the eye”. “You can also blend a blue eye shadow with a taupe shadow and add some blue eye liner at the outer edges.” says Bender.

Using an Eyeliner Stencil is a great way to achieve either a Cat Eye or Smoky Eye with ease, and creating lots of different styles as well, like a winged-smoky eye and sexy cat eyes just like Angelina Jolie.

Heavy black liner is making a big beauty splash again, and at the Sherlock Holmes premiere in New York City, Rachel McAdams showed off the power of a little black liner in a big eye popping way.

To get high impact eyes the easy way, start by sharpening a creamy black pencil and lining along your top and bottom lashline. Benefit makes a great waterproof liner in black that our beauty expert Beth Bender can’t live without. “The best ever” she says, and we agree. Then using your top eyeliner stencil hold in place over eyelid, and with an eyeshadow brush sweep some charcoal shadow along the line. Do the same underneath the eye using the bottom eyeliner stencil. You can smudge the liner and shadow together to soften and give the eye a smoldering effect.

Instead of applying a black pencil along the inside rim of your lashes which can make the eyes seem smaller, try using an eye brightening liner like Pixi’s Eye Bright Liner No. 1 Nude. It makes the eyes pop, and look even bigger, and the contrast between light and dark liner makes the white of your eyes look even whiter.

Leighton Meester gave us ’smoky eye gals’ an early holiday present, by once again gracing the red carpet with her version of a smoky-cat eye at KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball in Los Angeles.

According to makeup artist beth bender who has worked with Leighton, the look, was all about blending. To re-create, start by brushing an espresso shadow up to the crease, and then using a small brush, blend color up towards the end of the eyebrow. Apply a tight black eyeliner along the top lashline, and blend outwards. To finish, add a dark brown pencil on the bottom lashline, and smudge it upwards.

Another insider secret? “False eyelashes can really add a lot to this look,” says Bender. Depending on how confidant you are, apply either a strip, or individual lash clusters into your natural lashes, and follow with a generous coat of black mascara.

This Holiday Season Beth and I wanted to create a “holiday look” featuring Styli-Style Cosmetics.  The look had to be beautiful, natural and easy to recreate for all of our viewers.  While chatting over bagels at Panera Bakery in Studio City we came across Marcie Basso, celebrity mother of 3, who was looking for a makeover.  So, this is how our “Celebrity Mother/Daughter Holiday Make Over” was born…

The first thing Marcie needed was a good moisturizer so we used Ling Skincare which has the most amazing products to brighten any neglected face.  Her eye brows were groomed…(one of Beth’s specialties) followed by  “brow tint” by styli-style in taupe to fill in Marcie’s brows.  Then Beth used the lightest color from her “get happy” palette and pressed it into Marcie’s lids to cover up the redness.  She mixed the 2 darker colors and applied them into Marcie’s crease.  Styli-Style’s smokey eye pencil in charcoal charbon was put just above her lashes and their “Hideaway” concealer in light was used to even out her skin tone as well as cover any unwanted imperfections.

Beth added some Blackest Black Colorlash mascara, Luna Bronzer Blush in apricot and finished off Marcie’s lips with Champagne Plastique LipGloss all by Styli~Style.

Alexandria, her daughter, is 18 and has appeared in several print ads and television shows like Nickelodeon’s

“ICarly.”  These 2 gals are more like sisters and love to pal around Hollywood.

Being so young Alexandria’s skin was pretty flawless but she told the Bender Sisters that she wasn’t consistent with wearing SPF.  With her extremely fair skin she needs to wear an SPF of at least 30 every day to protect her skin!  We suggested Obagi Medical Products or Bioelements.

Beth filled in her brows with Brow Tint in taupe and plucked a few strays.  Her lids were dusted with a light ivory color from Beth Bender Beauty’s original “get in line” kit.  She then applied her SGB palette using the smoky stencil to ensure perfection.  She used the smokey eye pencil from Styli~Style above Alex’s lashes followed by Blackest Black Colorlash mascara and apricot Luna bronzer/blush to her cheeks. For added fun Beth applied one of my favorites…“liquid glitter” in gold on top of  Alexandra’s smoky eye.  Definitely festive for the holidays!

When Marcie’s husband got a look at the “new Marcie” he couldn’t keep his hands off her!  Her son Gabriel who is now shooting “The Middle” playing Brooke Shields son, wasn’t quite sure what to say…needless to say I think he didn’t like his mother looking like a “hottie.” Well, the Bender Sisters said “he needs to get over that…like yesterday…”

To create the look with ease and give your eyes a smooth, continuous black line like Emma Stone seen here, pull the skin taut from the outer corner of your eye with one hand, and with the other hand, gently draw a thin line from the outer to the inner corner. The pencil should be as close to the lashline as possible so there is no space between the eyelid and lashes.

Use the same technique to get a thin black line along your lower lash line as well. If your eyes are smaller make sure and taper the liner so it fades from the center of eye towards the inner part of eye.

Once your liner is done you can finish by setting with a colored eyeshadow underneath and above the eye. For perfect eyeliner that takes seconds to do use an eyeliner stencil on the top and bottom. Simply hold the stencil in the desired place along the lashline and sweep across the eye with your shadow.

It’s that simple and it looks super sexy!
