To Get Amanda’s Look:

Start by using an eye primer, Too Faced makes an excellent one.  Lightly pat over your entire lid.  Let dry for a few seconds then cover your entire lid and under your eyes with Beth Bender’s SGB Smoky Eye Kit (using the copper color from the trio).  Then use Beth Bender’s GNO Smoky Eye Kit, just a hint of ‘pinky purple‘ color in a line right above your upper lashline to give your eyes a really interesting shot of color that you don’t really register consciously.

Amanda’s got an ultra-thin ring of black eyeliner so we suggest Perfect Eyes Waterproof and Tear Proof Eyeliner by Too Faced.  Try to get the eyeliner into your lashline while applying it all around your eye.  And last but not least, use BSW’s absolutely favorite mascara…Size Queen Mascara in ‘black’ also from Too Faced to give you the longest lashes evah!   We are telling you, this look will be eye catching…:)

If This Isn’t the Hottest Smoky-Cat Eye Look You’ve Seen This Week, Then Show Us One That Is!

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 18th October 2011

These smoky eyes totally knocked us out!  Come see the hotness that was Ciara’s smoky eye makeup at an event for The Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project:

Totally HOT!!  This isn’t surprising—Ciara has been killing it in the eye makeup department recently. But what we particularly like about this look is that it’s so damn simple.  It’s just a whole lot of black eyeshadow, really.  But it’s applied in the perfect shape for her eyes—a bit almond-y and a little drawn out on the ends.  So it really looks like a smoky-cat eye.  And there’s just a hint of a golden-bronze shimmery shadow right under her eyeliner.
It’s all just so gorgeous. And everything else makeup wise is so perfect, almost goddess like.  We can only take solace in the fact that she’s got a couple of stray hairs dangling in her eyes. So that’s how we thought we would wake ya’ll up this morning, by smacking you in the face with sexiness.
Did we do a good job of it?  Is this the sexiest smoky eye you’ve seen recently or what?

Get Lea Michele’s Sultry Smoky Eyes

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 4th October 2011

Lea Michele’s makeup artist Melanie Inglessis let us in on the secret to the star’s sultry, but not so stuffy smoky eyes at the Hogan by Karl Lagerfeld cocktail party during Paris Fashion Week: “  Use an alternative color to black, which can be super heavy.

how to create Lea Michele's smoky eyes

The Beauty Scoop on Creating Lea Michele's Smoky Eyes

Try a periwinkle, gray or brown which will lighten things up.”   She also advises using a shimmer shadow, which is easier to blend than a matte shadow, and for getting the smoky eye look just right, an eyeshadow stencil.

I love beth bender beauty’s new Backstage Beauty Smoky Eye Quad. You get everything you need to create super sexy eyes like a pro including a set of eyeshadow stencils.  I recommend these eyeshadow stencils to so many of my clients, especially those who don’t have access to a makeup artist.

get easy smoky eyes in minutesFor creating more depth using a shimmer shadow, start first by applying the color with the pad of your index finger and pressing into the eyelid.  Once you have the desired intensity then finish blending and applying color into the crease using a brush.  For added drama, apply the pencil inside the waterline—top and bottom.  Keep the makeup looking modern by layering color below the crease only. Any more starts to look unhinged.

The Sexiest New Fall Makeup Trends For Smoky Eyes

SMOKY METALLIC EYES

hottest smoky eye trends for fall 2011

Smoldering smoky eyes in metallics

A little metallic shadow is sometimes all it takes for eyes to go from smoky to smoldering.  Case in point, at the Roberto Cavalli show models were adorned in the most smoldering, smoky, ‘I dare you to look away eyes’ that we have ever seen.

Weeks later and we are still talking about them, cause’ that’s how outstanding they were!  To create your own version of these beauties we asked our own makeup pro, Beth Bender to give us her best tips.

First rim the eyes with a black liner.  I love the new Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencils, they stay on for hours and the colors look amazing.

Next, brush a dark brown matte shadow into the crease and under the eyes too. I like to use a blender brush and with a windshield wiper motion go back and forth from the outer eye crease to the middle making sure to blend really well.

Finish by sweeping a copper/bronze shade with a hint of shimmer directly onto the eyelid area and underneath from the inner eye to the center of eye as seen here in this picture. Check out beth bender beauty’s Beautiful Browns Smoky Eye Quad, or the SGB Smoky Eyeshadow Kit to make eyes pop—and hearts stop.

Beth’s Beauty tip: Make sure you blend the copper/bronze shadow into the dark brown so that there are no hard lines between the two colors and the eyes look flawless.

How To Create Long-Lasting Smoky Eyes

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 13th September 2011

For the premiere of her new movie The Oranges, Leighton Meester’s makeup artist needed to make sure her smoky eyes would last through a full day of press conferences and a romp down the red carpet.

Leighton Meister long lasting smoky eyes

Leighton Meester's Long Lasting Smoky Eyes

To get Leighton’s eyes just right, first her lids were prepped with an eye primer to give her shadow something to adhere to. Next a shimmery golden peach was layered over a soft beige, and then a taupe shadow was smudged inside her creases for added definition.  The final touch was a soft pink shimmer in the inner corners of her eyes.

The rest of the starlet’s face was kept neutral, leaving Leighton looking like a modern day Audrey Hepburn with her ponytail and bangs. A fresh, natural look was a must.

What Do We Think Of Zoe Saldana’s Layered Smoky Eyes?

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 26th August 2011

Smoldering, smoky eyes show no sign of slowing down on the red carpet—but the multi-dimensional metallic version on Zoe Saldana at the Miami premiere of Colombiana just took the trend to the next level with these too hot to touch smoky eyes that put the ‘X’ in S-E-X-Y!

To get the look we asked celebrity makeup artist Beth Bender to share her tips.  “Mixing crème and powder shadows is the key to achieving the perfect consistency.”  After gliding a golden brown shade over the center eyelid to add warmth, finish with black pencil and line along the lashline.  Finish with individual false lashes and a coat of black mascara,” says Bender.

Look at This Gorgeous Burgundy and Gold Eye Makeup Look Seen on JoAnna Garcia!

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 23rd August 2011

Yes, stop everything and look at this eye makeup look on JoAnna Garcia.  Seriously people! How can you miss these super, sexy eyes from any distance.

0823-joanna-garcia-eye-makeup-eyeliner_bd.jpg
What we have here are eyes lined with a dark Burgundy, almost eggplant color, but the line is very precise and is applied around the entire eye, top and bottom.  The liner is thicker towards the outer eye area which definitely makes this look stand out.  For added drama there is a black eyeliner on her inner rims, and to finish a gold shimmer shadow swept across her top lids as well as underneath her eyes.

The gold softens up the rich purple so nothing looks heavy, but she’s still all sultry and smoldering.  Plus, the colors really make her green eyes pop.

Don’t you love the combo? If so, you can use the HRH smoky eye kit, or as the Brits like to call it Her Royal Highness to re-create her look.  It comes with a beautiful dark eggplant, golden-beige, and bronze shimmer shadow.

Better get started, the weekend is only days away!

Get Hilary Duff’s Smoldering Purple Smoky Eyeshadow Look In 3 Easy Steps

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 11th August 2011

Hilary Duff is no slouch when it comes to her smoky eyes, and when she is seen sporting them, believe me, you notice them.  I have found this particular look to be perfect for a hot date, first or not, and anytime you feel like going smoky without all of the dark colors.  Take a look at the hotness happening on Hilary Duff’s eyes here thanks to some smoldering purple eyeshadow…

0911-hilary-duff-eyeshadow-date-night_bd.jpg
0911-purple-eye-makeup-close_bd.jpg
The three key things going on around her eyes minus the added lashes and mascara:

1) She’s got a touch of black eyeliner along her upper lids.

2) Then there’s purple eyeshadow dusted around most of her eyes and even further in on the bottom than on the top. She has softened the purple in the crease, and underneath with a rose-gold shimmer that gives this look its smoldering finish.

3) And last, there’s a soft beige shimmer in the inner corner, and brow bone to to highlight and make her eyes pop even more.

Three fairly easy steps to creating what I think are pretty hot looking smoky eyes.  So, will you copy them for that hot date this weekend? Or that roof top barbecue?  Well,  if you do, you might want to check out one of Hilary’s favorite smoky eye kits.  The LYL Smoky Eyeshadow Kit, and a beauty staple in her makeup bag.

What Did You Think Of Dianna Agron’s Metallic Cat Eye’s on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? Want To Know How To Get Them?

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 8th August 2011

Okay girls, are you ready for another season of super sultry, smoky eyes or not?  Glee star Dianna Agron was when she stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in New York with a smoky cat eye that looked seriously sultry for a hot summer night.  We asked celebrity makeup artist Beth Bender, who happens to know a thing or two about smoky eyes how to create Dianna’s super sexy eyes without looking like a raccoon.

Get Diana Agron's super sexy smoky eyes now!

Dianna Agron's Smoky-Cat Eyes

“The first thing to think about especially when doing a look like this is choosing the right color.  The silver shimmer works well, and keeping the color lighter towards the inner eye is smart, says Bender.”  If you decide to use an eyeliner pencil and tend to get shiny, you may want to prime the lids first with an eye primer.  I like to start with a pencil first, and finish with an eyeshadow when creating dramatic eyes like Dianna’s.  Starting with a metallic silver pencil draw an exaggerated outline from the inner corners of the eye,  jutting out slightly toward the temple.  If you’re using only eye shadows to create this look, then try a Cat Eye Stencil to get the perfect shape seen here.  Once you have the cat eye stencil placed where you like it, fill in the shape with a grey shadow, and repeat on the other eye.  Then using a tapered eyeliner brush very carefully so as not to mess up your liner, run your brush along the bottom lashes with your silver shimmer shadow continuing around the inner corner and stopping in the center on top lashline.  You can add a deep charcoal shadow, or black gel liner along the top and bottom lash lines at the outer corners to create dramatic definition.

And that’s it.  Super easy, and really sexy. Don’t you think?  Yes girls, you will be seeing a lot of variations of the famous cat eye this fall so why not have it perfected in time to be your go-to look for fall?

Here’s a few products to check out too!
