SAG Awards 2012: ‘The Help’ and ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and ‘Modern Family,’ clean up!

The movie “The Help” cleaned up at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, taking statues for Best Actress, Supporting Actress and Ensemble Cast.
Viola Davis, who played a black maid in the 1960s-era civil rights drama, took home the Best Actress honor.
“What is there but a dream. You can’t turn in a dream for another dream. I’m so proud to be an actor,” said Davis, who is up for an Academy Award next month.
Davis beat out an all-star lineup of nominees, including Meryl Streep, whom she thanked for inspiring her to become an actress.
She also thanked her legendary actress Cicely Tyson, who also appears in “The Help.”
Octavia Spencer was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her star turn as brassy housekeeper Minny Jackson in “The Help.”
At age 82, Christopher Plummer picked up the Best Supporting Actor trophy for his role of an aging father coming out of the closet in “Beginners.”
The Best Actor honor went to Frenchman Jean Dujardin for his portrayal of a silent movie star in “The Artist.”
In the television category, ABC’s “Modern Family” was awarded Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
The HBO Prohibition-era drama “Boardwalk Empire” was awarded Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
Other winners included, “Boardwalk Empire” star Steve Buscemi for Best Actor in a Drama Series and NBC “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.
Betty White, 90, won Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the TV Land sitcom “Hot In Cleveland.”
