British singer Adele picked up more accolades on Tuesday at the Brit Awards.  However, her big night was capped by controversy.  After she was cut off during her acceptance speech for the Best Album award, Adele flipped the bird in frustration.

 

 

 

It seems singer song writer Damon Albarn, rambled his acceptance speech which put the show behind schedule, and Adele was not allowed to say more than a few sentences as producers tried to make up for lost time.  The alternative rock band Blur closed the show with a performance after Adele’s shortened speech.

“Sorry if I offended anyone, but the people in suits offended me,” Adele said after the show, The Mirror of London reported.  “I wasn’t swearing at the fans, but I didn’t get to complete my thank-you speech!”

Adele won Best British Female Solo Artist and Best Album at the Brits, after winning six trophies at the Grammys earlier this month.  In accepting the Best Album award, Adele started her speech by saying, “Nothing makes me prouder than coming home with six Grammys and then coming to the Brits to win Album Of The Year. I’m so, so proud to be British and to be flying the British flag and I’m so proud to be in the room with all of you.”

It was at that point that host James Corden cut her off, bashfully saying, “I’m so so sorry, and I can’t believe I’m going to do this …”  Adele then calmly said, “You’re going to cut me off.  Can I just say, then, goodbye and I’ll see you next time round?”  Then she raised the middle finger of her right hand.

Adele immediately had many people come to her defense on twitter.  One tweet said:  “Who has the audacity to cut Adele off at an awards show? In London?“

The producers of the show even took to Twitter to apologize.  “We regret this happened & we send deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short tonight due to the live show over-running,” a statement posted on the Brit Awards official Twitter page read.  “We don’t want this to undermine her incredible achievement in winning her incredible award. It tops off what’s been an incredible year for her.”

Olivia Palermo, the young socialite and daughter of a Connecticut real estate developer named Douglas Palermo, originally moved to New York City to attend the New School.  Palermo quickly worked her way into the social scene and is now known as the Fashion “It” girl.

 

 

 

 

It seems all of her social climbing has landed her the new spotlight as the face of an upcoming scent by French fashion and fragrance house Rochas.  Her fashion website oliviapalermo.com earned her the newcomer of the year prize at the weekend’s Bloglovin’ Awards, will front the campaign for an upcoming perfume from the label.

“While Rochas has ingrained French roots, I think every woman can get the sense of joie de vivre and confidence in their style that the Parisians emanate.  I always like to be a bit more fashion-forward and playful in my style choices when I visit Paris.”

During Paris Fashion Week on February 29,  following the Rochas presentation, more details on the fragrance itself will be revealed.  BSW was told that the campaign looks set to follow the traditional aesthetic of the Procter & Gamble-owned brand.

Rochas, which relaunched its fashion division in 2009, was established in 1925 and is well known for its top-selling Eau de Rochas fragrance trio.  Palermo’s previous modeling jobs include campaigns for Spanish high street retailer Mango and Italian fashion brand Hogan.

Kate Middleton is spending her first Valentine’s Day as a married woman, nearly 8,000 miles away from her husband.

 

 

The Duchess of Cambridge is carrying out a solo visit to the English port city of Liverpool to visit a charity devoted to helping recovering addicts.  This V-Day, Kate received a card along with a lovely bouquet of red roses from 8-year-old Jaqson Johnston-Lynch, whose mother works at the charity.  “Happy Valentine’s Day, your Royal Highness. I’m sorry Prince William can’t be here,” Jaqson wrote.

Prince William, her hubby, is currently deployed as a helicopter search-and-rescue pilot in the remote Falkland Islands.

Another one bites the dust.  Singer Whitney Houston is found dead in hotel room’s bathtub.  Original cause that she drowned has been ruled out since coroner’s found little water in her lungs.  Officials are now saying that she was already dead from a fatal cocktail of prescription drugs and booze before she became submerged in a bathtub.

 

 

 

 

 

This Sunday an autopsy was performed, but the results of a toxicology test are likely to take several weeks.  No evidence of foul play was reported.  Houston was 48 years old and her death on Saturday was a complete shock.  Her death was the latest in a string of celebrities to overdose accidentally on legal pills, including Anna Nicole Smith and Heath Ledger.

Houston was getting ready in her fourth-floor suite at the Beverly Hilton for the famous Clive Davis Pre-Grammys party downstairs, a gala that continued without her for nine hours before her body was finally discovered.  Whitney’s aunt, Mary Jones, found her in the tub.  She had laid out Houston’s dress for the evening on her bed then left for a half hour.  When she returned, Houston was still not out of the bath which caused her concern.  Jones entered the bathroom to find her niece unconscious beneath the water.  She pulled her from the tub and immediately started CPR.

Police found: Valium, Xanax, Lorazepam, and another sleeping pill, ibuprofen, menstrual cramp drug Midol and Amoxicillin for treating bacterial infections.  Some bottles were issued this year but others were from 2011 and included prescriptions filled at the Mickey Fine Pharmacy in Beverly Hills, where king of pop Michael Jackson also received several batches of Demerol and other drugs.

“I’m not going to comment on any of the meds or prescriptions that were obtained,” Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said.  There are no reports that Houston, who was addicted to cocaine-laced marijuana for years and was back in rehab last May, was using illegal drugs.

So sad…Houston had so much talent, beauty and grace.  This girl could SING!  Too bad she couldn’t see it:(  We will miss her…

Jennifer Aniston is eager to set the record straight regarding Angelina Jolie…They are not fighting…!  In this March issue of InStyle magazine, Aniston nixes the never-ending rumors that she has held a grudge against Jolie for shacking up with ex-husband Brad Pitt soon after their 2005 split.

“The triangle with my ex-husband – and that there’s a feud there.  It’s constant. It’s a story headline that won’t go away, but it’s a money thing,” Aniston says when asked what the press gets most wrong about her.  She also shared an update on her relationship with fellow actor Justin Theroux, whom she met on the set of the upcoming “Wanderlust.” Jennifer was happy to express that it’s going strong and that she’s currently in a “joyful and peaceful” place in her life right now.

 

 

“Having experienced everything you don’t want in a partner over time, it starts to narrow down to what you actually do want,” she shares.”  As I get older I realize what qualities are important in love and what suits me.   And what I won’t settle for.”

Aniston will turn 43 on Feb. 11.  She claims that she is okay with the aging process and still feels young.  However, when she sees these young new actresses popping up, she thinks that they are the same age…Unfortunately, they are not.  “You lose perspective,” she says. “I don’t feel my age.  I feel young every day.
