According to Glee star, Lea Michele, she didn’t change her name for vanity, she changed it because she was bullied at school.  On Wednesday night she appeared on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and told Jay that she changed her moniker after her classmates continued to use it against her.  Her real surname is ‘Sarfati.”  Michele said, “I don’t use it a lot because I got ‘Lea So-fatty,’ ‘Lea So-farty’ at school.”   (So, what!  We got fender-bender, bender I don’t even know her and so on and so forth…didn’t make us change our name)

Lea was wearing a revealing gold mini-dress on the talk show, and continued to go on about her decision to ditch her last name and that it came as a surprise.  “When I was little and I went on my first audition they were like, ‘And may we have your name,’ and I was like Lea Michele.  And I’ve been Lea Michele ever since,’ ” she said.  “It’s Sephardic, which is Spanish/Jew,” she added.  (thanks for the history lesson…but the last name gave it away.)

Lea Michele who stars in the upcoming ensemble film “New Year’s Eve,” (which looks about as good as that block buster hit, “Valentine’s Day”) also shared some stories about her holidays with family at home.  “Every year it’s like, ‘Where are we going to go for the holidays,’ and it’s like, ‘We’re going to go to my mom’s side,’” she said. “Because then I get these big bowls of pasta, and that’s what I want! Turkey is like a side-dish, we have pasta.”

She went on to list additional traditionals such as, eating 12 grapes, dressing in clothes and colors that evoke feelings they want in the New Year and writing down a wish, burning it at the stroke of midnight and then drinking the ashes in champagne.  The last bit, she explained, is a tradition that was eventually dropped like her last name.  (funny, she seems to drop a lot about her past and who she really is…)

To sum it all up, I think Lea Michele’s PR firm should take a break and keep her off talk shows…TMI!
