Kim Richards, ex child star and on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” is finally taking her health into consideration.  Slowly details regarding Richards’ decision to check herself into rehab are surfacing as her close friends are speaking out in support of the “Real Housewife.”  One source said, “Her family is relieved she’s getting help.  She has lots of issues.  She needs help.”

“Kim has been to rehab more than once before, but every time is a new time, and everyone just hopes this sticks and that she gets the help she needs.  It’s serious,” expressed a close friend.

The former child star, 47, has entered a treatment center for alcohol and substance abuse, it was revealed earlier this week and not a moment too soon, according to those closest to her.  She really is looking old and haggard.  And is a complete mess.  “She’s basically homeless, staying with various friends,” the source said. “She doesn’t have a home base. It’s not unusual for people to not hear from her for long stretches of time. It’s been that way for years.”  So very sad…

Sources close to the star say that the reality star’s problems have been problematic for far longer than has been publicized.  “Kim’s alcohol addiction along with other substance abuse problems has been obvious for quite some time, but it’s really good that she’s finally getting help,” another source told BSW.

Richards has displayed erratic behavior this season, but she has always addressed it as a consequence of pills she was taking at the time.  Kim attributed her slurred speech and half-closed eyes in the Nov. 7 episode, to a number of medications she was on at the time, including Lexapro (an anti-anxiety medication), Trazodone (an antidepressant) and Topamax (an anti-seizure medication that can be used to treat alcoholism).  Oy Vey!

The amazing part is that her fellow “Housewives” are standing by Richard’s, despite battling their own demons.  “I adore Kim and I stand behind her,” said Taylor Armstrong, who recently had a ‘major meltdown’ of her own on the show. Armstrong also added, “And if there’s anything i can do to support her (I will); but if she’s getting healthy, what more could we ask?”
