Posted by BSW Buzz on December 2nd, 2011
Sunday night, actor Brad Pitt, reportedly found himself in a real life or death situation counseling a man who wanted to commit suicide. Pitt, now 47, encountered the man during a Q & A session after the screening of “Moneyball,” at the Carey Grant Theatre in Culver City, California.
The distraught man publicly admitted to Pitt and “Moneyball” costar Jonah Hill, that he had been battling suicidal thoughts alone in his car the night before. Pitt said to him, “Look, man, life is up and down, it’s a vicious cycle, but you have to go through it and deal with that. You can be down, but then you come back up again, and every failure can lead to success,” Pitt said.
The suicidal man said he was heartened by Pitt’s film about Oakland A’s General Manager Billy Beane and told Pitt that it gave him “a renewed sense of hope.”
An observer at the event said, “it was a touching moment.” As the suicidal man left the theatre, Pitt recognizing how fragile he was, stopped to talk with the guy again to offer him some more words of encouragement.
