Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston in Happier Days
It was the shocker heard around the world.
After a recent Parade interview where Brad Pitt revealed that he had trouble “trying to pretend” his marriage to Jennifer Aniston was “something it wasn’t” hit stands, the Moneyball actor later retracted his words.
“It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself — and that, I am responsible for,” the 47-year-old actor said in a statement.
But as it turns out, Pitt isn’t the only one who tends to fire off hurtful things about his ex: Aniston, 42, has gotten in quite a few shots of her own over her 4.5-year marriage, which ended when Pitt left her for Angelina Jolie in 2005.
In a September 2005 Vanity Fair interview: “There’s a sensitivity chip that’s missing (from Brad)…He makes his choices. He can do – whatever. We’re (about to be) divorced, and you can see why.” (On the W pictures with Brad and Angelina)
“Billy Idol called–he wants his look back.” (on Brad’s then-bleached hair.)
In a 2005 GQ interview: “I’m not defined by this relationship. I wasn’t when I was in it, and I don’t want to be in the aftermath of it. And that’s really important to me. Let’s let everybody move on and live their lives, and hopefully everybody will be really happy.”
