Curly Girls Rock At Devachan Part II
Posted by Te-see on July 11th, 2011
According to Lorraine Massey’s book, “Curly Girl The Handbook Expanded Second Edition,” I have Cherub Curls! This book will not only teach you how to determine the type of curls you have, it will also teach you how to care for them properly and suggest alternate ways of maintaining their shape. This is my “new hair bible.” All of my curly gal friends are grabbing it off the shelf and loving it!
But let’s not get sidetracked…This article is all about my curls…Hee, hee…Cherub Curls are defined as follows: curly hair at birth, baby fine curl spirals, delicate, take a long time to grow, a spring factor of 5 to 10 inches (which is explained at length in “Curly Girl The Handbook,” plus much more…
Again, Rosie DaSilva, sat me down to discuss what I wanted from my curls. Of course I said, “I want to keep them long and I want them to grow!” So, with that said, Rosie began cutting and styling my “cherub curls” one curly strand at a time…Then Gin her assistant, walked me over to the wash & condition station where she cleansed and massaged my scalp with DevCurl No-Poo followed by lots of One Condition. Rosie said that my hair was very dry which causes breakage…UGH! So, it needed extra hydration. Gin left most of the One Condition in my hair and when I returned to Rosie’s station, she put Heaven in Hair on my ends. Now I was ready for a style. Rosie decided to do something different and the end result left me with my jaw dropping…
Rosie parted my hair in the front and slicked it down…then she pinned the front to create long wavy bangs to frame my face…
Of course Ella had to get involved…LOL!
It was fascinating to watch Rosie do her magic…!
Once my entire head was pinned properly, I sat under the dryer for a bit until Rosie said my curls were cooked to perfection! Now it was time to take out some of the pins and hand dry the length using the Devafuser that is shaped like a hand! Pretty cool…
At this point I had no idea what my hair was going to look like…I was just kicking back and enjoying the much needed pampering!
Almost reveal time…I was soooo excited to see what Rosie had in mind for my curls!
As you can tell from my expression, I was in total AWE!!! All I could say to Rosie was WOW…! I just wanted to take her home with me…I was so loving my new found curls…Cherub Curls that is!
If you want curly hair perfection, I highly recommend scheduling an appointment at either the Broome St or Broadway location in New York City…To all my friends and visitors who have inquired about Devachan LA…I will be posting the opening and location as soon as it is revealed to me!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have regarding your curls. I also highly recommend purchasing Lorraine Massey’s “Curly Girl The Handbook Expanded Second Edition.“ A great comfort and resource for Curly Girls everywhere:):)
