TOMS shoes- not just for crunchy granola types
Posted by Cindy Bokma on 22nd October 2010
Let me preface this post by saying the people at TOMS shoes have no clue who I am, they didn’t send me a pair of shoes to take for a test drive and they probably don’t care much about Hello Dollface.
I knew about TOMS, having seen them on various people in the past, mostly the types to wear hemp clothes and Birkenstocks (I also bought a pair of these and love them). I didn’t think much about them. I didn’t dream of owning a pair or fantasize about outfits being capped off by the shoes. Sometimes I do this. I planned outfits around a pair of red clogs I’m still pining over.
It wasn’t until I saw a hip and funky friend of mine wearing a pair that I began to reconsider owning them. I had a gift card to Nordstrom that was beginning to burn a hole in my pocket and not knowing what else to buy, I purchased these. I love the red which punches up any outfit.
What intrigued me about TOMS was the fact that for every pair of shoes purchased, the company donates a pair to a child in need, called the One for One movement. You can read all about TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie’s mission here. I love it! TOMS also offers vegan shoes, wedges, boots and other items. They offer them for children which is brilliant since kids need good, well made shoes for their growing feet.
I wore these all day long yesterday in Santa Monica and I am IN LOVE. I usually need a breaking in period with new shoes but not these. I slipped them on at 8 a.m. and didnt take them off until 6p.m. No blisters, no pain. Pure comfort. These will be my new favorite shoes, for sure. I want everyone I know to buy a pair- super comfort and a good cause.
