At my age keeping my body looking as fit as possible is important to me, but with my crazy schedule I don’t always have time to workout. October is here! It’s a good reminder to women everywhere to get their annual mammograms. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, more than 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer across the United States this year, worse; approximately 43,000 will die as a result of being afflicted with the disease.

Touched by an Angel…Some people will come into your life for a very short time and yet make an impact on you that will last lifetime. I call them “Angels…”

Jean Elizabeth Skripek

Her name was Jean Elizabeth Skripek . We met 13 years ago during a difficult time in my life. Over the years she became my dear friend, confidante and a mother figure to me. I can honestly say from the minute I met her I knew she was special. She was beautiful inside and out. She was and still is the most intelligent woman I have ever met in my life.

Confident, strong, independent, determined, and a great sense of humor are just a few words I would use to describe her. As one friend eloquently stated, “Jean Elizabeth Skripek was a force of nature – a dynamo of powerful influence toward empowerment and positive action for all who knew her both personally and professionally”. “She will be missed by all whose lives she touched”.
I am grateful for having spent some privileged time with her having touched my life even if it was for what feels like only a brief moment in time.

On March 23 2010, Jean Elizabeth Skripek lost her battle with breast cancer. She fought for three years; against all odds she continued to fight in true Jean Skripek form. It is devastating to see your family and friends suffer with this. It is simply not fair.
