Backstage Beauty: Nanette Lepore Spring 2011
Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 20th September 2010
Backstage at Nanette Lepore Spring 2011 fashion show at New York Fashion Week, the beauty look was 70′s glam, and totally suited the spring designs to a t!
THE BSW SCOOP: Kaliardos who designed the look described the Lepore woman as “a strong, independent, working girl who’s also ready for a night out.” He created a sculpted eye in bronze and beige metallic shadow in a nod to Joan Crawford’s makeup. The cheeks were subtly sculpted and the lips were prominent in pinky-red. The hair was parted down the middle, and an incomplete side ponytail finished the look. The highly-pigmented silver nails continued the ready-to-disco theme that had us wanting to put our roller skates on and hit the streets of NYC.
GET THE LOOK-MAKEUP: All makeup was by MAC Cosmetics, and the look created by James Kaliardos who used new Mega Metal Shadows in Center Stage and Dalliance to create the dark bronze outer winged look and the highlighted lid. He also used the new Kissable Lip color in a magenta shade to amp up the lips with a color and shine.
GET THE LOOK-HAIR: Ryan blow-dried the hair straight, parted it in the middle and then pulled it into a side ponytail that covered one ear. He didn’t pull the end of the ponytail all the way through, creating a loop of hair. He used the loose end of the loop to wrap around the elastic and pinned it underneath. He sent the girls off to get makeup done so that the hair would have a chance to relax and come a bit undone before the show. All we can say is LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!
