Zoe Saldana happens to be one of my favorite new celebrities. Not only is she my home girl from Queens, New York, Go Zoe, Go Zoe, but she isn’t afraid to take beauty and fashion risks, and always catches everyone’s attention.  Just look at her eye makeup worn to a gala event for AIDS research last night in New York City.

I love it because anything as smoldering as this is right up my beauty alley. But not everyone can carry this ‘right off the runway’ smudged cat eye look, like Zoe, who managed to take a very dramatic beauty look, and make it work for real.  Zoe’s skin tone, dark hair, and extremely sexy, high-necked dress all played a role in making this look work, while giving balance to the strong statement her eyes made.

Apricot Eyeshadow seems to be the color of the moment here in Hollywood. From shimmers, to soft matte shades, creams, powders, and my favorite, iridescent.

Every time I step onto a red carpet, there it is, apricot. So, what’s with the craze you ask? Well for one thing, it looks beautiful, and it works on every skin tone since the color is fairly neutral. You can apply using your fingers which is great for us ladies who are always on the go, but the best part is it looks great.

Jennie Garth, Edyta Sliwinska, Jennifer Carpenter, Jessica Alba, and Kate Blanchett have all been spotted with apricot hues on the eyes. Another benefit to wearing the shade, is that it makes your eyes look warmer which is perfect for an evening out on the town, or even a little flirting too.
