To get high impact eyes the easy way, start by sharpening a creamy black pencil and lining closely along your top and bottom lashline. Benefit makes a great waterproof liner in black that our beauty expert Beth Bender can’t live without. “The best ever” she says, and we agree. Then using your Cat Eyeliner Stencil hold in place over the eyelid, and with a slightly dampened eyeshadow brush sweep some charcoal shadow along the line, making sure to press color into the point of stencil. Do the same underneath the eye using the bottom eyeliner stencil.

Sexy Thick Cat Eyeliner

For a thicker and more extended Cat Eye, pull the stencil out and away from the eye, and hold slightly above the lashline. For eyes that pop even more, Beth suggests using an eye brightening liner like Pixi’s Eye Bright Liner No. 1 Nude.  They will look even bigger, and the contrast between light and dark liner will make the white of your eyes look even whiter.

Dexter’s Michael C. Hall Get’s The Thumbs Up With The “C” Word

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 3rd May 2010

Hard to believe a strong minded, serial killer like Dexter Morgan would ever be struck down by the vicious “c” word…The one word we all dread…cancer. However, many celebrities have been hit by this heartless disease, because after all…they are only human.

Michael C. Hall was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma just last year and finished his treatments this past January.  In Hodgkin’s lymphoma, cells in the lymphatic system grow abnormally and may spread beyond the lymphatic system. As Hodgkin’s lymphoma progresses, it compromises your body’s ability to fight infection.

According to his wife Jennifer Carpenter, who plays his sister on Dexter, “he caught it early enough that it was treatable and curable.  I feel even closer to him now and every minute with him is a gift.” Making sure to follow his proper treatment, Michael is in full remission and back at work.  On April 19 he was strolling the streets of NYC with actress Lucy Liu, while shooting “East Fifth Bliss,” a new independent comedy.  BSW was thrilled to hear that Hall is doing well and back in the acting saddle!  “One of our favorite actors in Hollywood!”

Dexter will begin filming it’s fifth season this June.  Can’t wait…got the calendar marked and martini’s on hand…

Fashion Institute of Technology’s Graduating Show Was A Hit!

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 3rd May 2010

The Fashion institute of Technology of New York City was on fire. The room was swathed from the ceiling to the floor in crimson. Perhaps for royalty. Oh, it was regal. I couldn’t believe the “who who’s” to the left and to the right of me.  (I needed proper eye glasses, I admit it. ) I was so intrigued with the whole event. The Future of Fashion happens each year as the next graduating class has a chance to compete for some well coveted attention from some of the most successful designers in attendance.

What an alumniCalvin Klein, Norma Kamali, Nanette Lepore, John Bartlett, Fransisco Costa, Angie Cruz, Nina Garcia, Ivy supersonic and Kate Betts of Time Inc. Fashion and Design, who by the way made Forbes “Top 10 Fashion and Design Editors”…not too shabby

The event was all about cotton.  The fashion design applicants this year had to produce their designs using 95% cotton. The event was sponsored by Cotton Incorporated! I thought hmm…We’ll see……Well, I was tickled and pleased. Gorgeous hand knit creations, special occasion, childrenswear, even intimate apparel. One minute the cutest kids were confidently swagging down the runway and then before you knew it, some of the most intricately detailed lingerie to finish the show.

Even with my bad hair (it rained all day and night) I was embraced by quite possibly the most timeless and elegant woman in the world.  Carolina Herrera. This woman owns the well to the fountain of youth.  She is stunning!

For the first time ever the show was streamed live on the internet! The Gals at Gale Branding had a lot on their hands coordinating this event, but somehow they managed to do it gracefully, and they made history!
