Layering cheek makeup has become as popular as wearing lip liner and lipstick. This spring season, “become friends with your bronzer,” says celebrity makeup artist Beth Bender, who recommends Soak up the Sun Bronzer for light to medium complexions and Beachy Keen Bronzer for medium to dark.

To get J-Lo’s chiseled-cheek look, “Apply your bronzer around the outside of your face, sculpting around the features. Then finish by adding a soft peachy-tawny blush that has a hint of gold to the apple of your cheeks,” says Bender”. You always need a touch of color on the apple to get this natural glow. If you use only a bronzer it will make you complexion look flat.”

Beth’s Beauty Tip, “Always use a bigger brush to apply the bronzer, and a smaller one for the blush.” “The trick to getting the perfect bronzed cheeks is in the blending. The bronzer and blush should blend into each other naturally.”

This spring why not embrace the colors of the season, and instead of your usual dark smoky eyes, why not try one in Violet, Blue, or a Pink. “Start by rimming the upper and lower lash line with a black pencil,” says Makeup artist Beth Bender. Next says Beth, “apply the violet shadow on your outer eyelids and a little under the lower lash line.  Blend in crease and above brow bone towards inner eye for a more modern and chic look.” “You can add a touch of pink or rose-gold shimmer to the lid as seen here, but just a little and make sure to blend into violet.”

“I also like using a colored eye pencil and layering it on top of a black pencil. In this case either a dark purple or Plum works well. I do this a lot when I am working. It gives your makeup a more rock and roll edge.

MY BEAUTY TIP for creating these gorgeous eyes for spring is to keep the rest of your face clean, and with minimal color. A sheer lip in a pink or nude, and a soft blush will keep the focus on the eyes.

#3 Kathryn Bigelow, the first female ever to win an academy award for “Best Director.” She is an inspiration for all women…And at 58, not only is she at the top of her game, she is absolutely gorgeous…inside and out!  Look out…Kathryn may have just opened up the gates for all women to achieve higher status in what was once a predominately male industry:)
