The Runaways starring Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie opens today in New York City, Yay!! We have been waiting forever to see this movie, and can’t wait to see some legendary rock & roll moments, wild clothes, and rockin’ ’70s makeup.

We were also thinking a rocking version of Joan Jett’s signature smoky eye’s might be perfect to start sporting right about now. Jett, along with Currie, was on set every day to make sure the movie was as authentic as possible. Never mind how much Kristen, and Dakota resembled them too! She was also on the red carpet this past Wednesday for the NYC movie premiere, and in true Joan Jett form, her eyes were totally smoked out.

Our beauty insider Lars was at the premiere and got the scoop on how to get Jett’s runaway eyes.  Back in the day it was makeup artist Linda Mason who created Joan’s eyes for every video shoot, and she gets major BSW props for all of the attention they are getting today. Fast forward to James Vincent who created this look for the premiere.

“The perfect Joan Jett eye takes subtlety, persistence and an understanding of what’s sexy,” says Vincent. To get this look on yourself we asked our own personal makeup artist Beth Bender how to create them.

• Start with a base shade in a pale pink-nude hue and apply from browbone to lashline.
• Next sweep a champagne shimmer across the brow bone to highlight, and with a matte smoky-brown shadow sweep into the crease to contour, and add depth.
• Use the same shadow to line the top and underneath, and don’t apply concealer until the eyes are finished. With a waterproof eyeliner pencil in black, line the rims, and as close to the lashline as possible. Finish by smudging the liner for a smoldering effect.
• Leave the lashes uncurled, and spiky for a real rock-chick look, but apply lots of mascara in black.

Wow, being a rock star is definitely a hard job, but boy those smoky eyes are almost worth it!

As Bella Swan in the Twilight saga, Kristen Stewart kept her look simple and very girl-next-door. Her role as Joan Jett in The Runaways, however, is a different story, and she’s taking quite a different approach.

Take the hot pink lip color she was wearing at the movie’s premiere in New York City. To get Kristen’s look, celebrity makeup artist Beth Bender suggests blending a champagne and Gunmetal metallic shadow around the eyes, and contouring the face with a pearlescent shimmer before adding the finishing touch. “A rosy stain blended on the cheeks and lips kicks this look into rockstar worthy,” said Bender. The effect? A modern version of ’70s glam, and one that Joan Jett would definitely approve of.

I don’t know about you, but isn’t she a little old and maybe desperate to be posing in a button down shirt & pearls surrounded by Barney, Dora, and Kermit, children’s characters that are suppose to be innocent???  Totally cheapens herself…what kind of point is Hunter trying to make?  Her accusations that “the Edwards marriage was already broken & toxic” before she stuck her smelly toe in only add to Rielle’s off the wall image.   Major kudos to Elizabeth from the girls at BSW for getting past this so quickly…we can only hope that the rest of the nation chooses to move ahead with Elizabeth!
