The stars came out last night for the 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards held in Los Angeles. In perhaps a preview of how this Sunday’s Oscars might play out. ‘Precious, based on the Novel Push by Sapphire’ and its stars Gabourey Sidibe (pictured below with co-star Mariah Carey) and Mo’Nique captured plenty of hearts and plenty of trophies.

It picked up five awards including Best Feature, Best Director (Lee Daniels), Best First Screenplay (Geoffrey Fletcher), Best Supporting Actress (Mo’Nique) and Best Actress (Sidibe).

Jeff Bridges, meanwhile, scored the Best Actor award for ‘Crazy Heart,’ which was also named Best First Feature. Woody Harrelson (‘The Messenger’) captured the title of Best Supporting Actor, and ’500 Days of Summer’ was named the Best Screenplay.

The event was a star-studded affair with celebrities on hand like Jodie Foster, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Taraji P Henson, Andy Garcia, Vera Farmiga, Carey Mulligan, Lenny Kravitz, Roger Ebert, Olivia Wilde, Matt Dillon and many more. A paparazzi’s dream if there ever was one.

See you on the Red Carpet tomorrow!
