Are Celebrity Gifting Suites Losing Their Status?

It seems as though anyone these days can gain access to the ‘Celebrity Only’ Gifting Suites that usually happen days before an awards show. The Suites go into over-drive during award season in Hollywood, where “gift” is a verb, and swag suites are as common as open bars and black-tie parties. Take Snookie and her “Jersey Shore” cast mates for instance, who perused the offerings at a recent Golden Globe gifting suite. (I am still trying to figure that one out). They weren’t up for any awards, and yet had no problems what so ever filling their bags with custom-made jewelry, certificates for spa treatments, Lasik surgery if you can believe that, and clothing, shoes and perfume.

The way it usually works, and the folks who are there promoting their goods can only hope, is that the rich-and-famous celebs load up on free stuff they could easily afford, and don’t even need. In return, they pose for photos with the products they receive, and companies use those pictures to promote their brands.

However, this is slowly changing in a way that has a lot of people feeling slighted, and the once famous gifting suites are beginning to sour. As gifting has become more popular and more public, top stars rarely even show up anymore. They might be hoping for Sandra Bullock and Jeff Bridges, but end up with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. The press, who also play a big role in getting their product exposed, linked to a celebrity, and in turn increasing revenue, receive nothing when attending these suites, but reality stars like ‘Snookie’ are treated like A-list Celebrities.

Understandably it would be in poor taste, especially in this economy, for a Matt Damon-caliber celebrity to be photographed carrying a big bag of free swag, but who is getting them, is definitely changing the status of what was once a very exclusive event. So much so, that now, gifting firms send their swanky gift bags directly to the stars’ homes so they can enjoy their goods in private.

In the end, the ultimate goal of any of these Gifting Suites is to sell more products, and gain even more exposure, but I seriously doubt anyone will be running out to get Lasik surgery, or beauty products from Valerie just because they saw a snap shot of ‘Snookie’ holding a gift bag.

2010 Oscar Beauty: Smoky Eyes On The Edge

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 4th March 2010

Put all of the attention on you, and only you, with a stunning blue and bronze metallic smoky eye. This Sunday, the beauty looks at the Oscars will not be anything less than gorgeous, and nominee’s like Sandra Bullock, and Carey Mulligan will make us proud!

How To Create a Multi-colored Smoky Eye

To create your own red carpet look, start by applying My Secret Weapon Luminizer & Foundation Primer followed by your foundation, and It’s in The Eyes Concealer under eyes, and over any imperfections for a flawless, movie-star like complexion. Give your cheeks a warm flush by lightly dusting on a bronzer, (try Lets Get Glowing Bronzer in Soak Up The Sun) using a fan brush.
For The Eyes, Apply Lucinda (cobalt blue) Eye Shadow over eyelids and into crease, blending really well. Underneath the eyes apply Eye Shadow in Edie S.(golden-taupe shimmer) along lower lashline, (both from the Most Wanted Eye Shadow Palette), finish with multiple coats of a rich black mascara to define and thicken.

And last, give the lips a generous coat of Luscious Lip Gloss in Lulu for lips that shine all night long!

Posted by Te-see on 4th March 2010

Not too long ago a good friend of ours who works for Cutera Lasers introduced us to an amazing line of foundations that will cover pretty much any flaws on your skin including laser treatments.  It’s called Oxygenetix and was created by celebrity makeup artist Barry Knapp.

This miracle makeup is breathable, will cover, help heal, minimize and even eliminate procedural scars.  Barry Knapp designed this for doctors to help patients with skin issues such as rosacea, acne scars, skin injuries, wounds, rashes and many more. Ceravitae, the super charged oxygen complex in Oxygenetix foundation proliferates collagen cell and connective tissue growth in aging or wounded skin.

You should also know this Oxygenetix Breathable Foundation is:

• Non-Comedogenic (it won’t clog pores)
• Oil-Free
• Fragrance -Free
• Organically certified ingredients
• Contains SPF 25 (for UVA/UVB sun protection)
• Not drying – allows retention of natural fluids – even following aggressive resurfacing.
• Hypoallergenic (less allergic reactions than with other cosmetics)
• Non-irritating to sensitive skin (safe to use it after most cosmetic procedures).

What I love about Oxygenetix is that it blends perfectly into your skin, stays on all day long (even if you sweat), covers all flaws, and is available in 8 shades.  Barry broke it down to 4 yellow base foundations and 4 blue base foundations.  When I’m wearing Oxygenetix people can’t help but stop and comment on how beautiful my skin looks.

Take a look for yourself…(I’m on the left…)
