The beautiful and talented singer Carnie Wilson has battled being over weight her entire life.  As you may know, 10 years ago she had gastric bypass surgery to help her get her weight down and stay down.  In 1999 weighing in at 300 lbs., Carnie dropped 150 lbs. in 16 months following this procedure.  She looked amazing!

Cut to 2010, 10 years & 2 kids later…Carnie is struggling again to lose weight from her second pregnancy.  She loves food but eats much less than most and still can’t keep it off.  After her appearance on The Dr. Oz Show she was shocked to discover that she weighed in at 218 lbs. which Dr. Oz defined as “morbidly obese and prediabetic.” Not exactly what the 41 year old mother/singer wanted to hear…Unfortunately, 1 out of 7 people who under go weight loss surgery gain all of their weight back…Gastric surgery does not cure the psychological issues that coincide with weight gain.  These need to be addressed as well.

So, what is Carnie’s game plan…well, like so many women I know…she hates to exercise but is trying hard to follow Dr. Oz’s diet which includes 30 minutes of exercise a day or 10,000 steps a day!  In 3 weeks Carnie has lost 6 lbs. and is very happy.  Her dream goal is to “grow 4 inches taller.” (isn’t that every short girls dream…?)  But in Carnie’s real world she would like to weigh 150 – 170 lbs…The Bender Sisters wish her much luck and look forward to seeing her reach her goal!
