There was a “No diva, no ego” vibe at Monday’s re-record of “We Are The World” said rocker Rob Thomas, lead vocalist, and song writer for Matchbox 20. Stars like Nicole Richie, Celine Dion, Wyclef Jean, The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, and Barbara Streisand, came together, and all left their ego’s at the door.

“We get to come here and have a chance to be a part of something that was such a big part of my life growing up, and also now sadly it’s relevant again,” said Thomas.

“We have a special responsibility to help needy people and this is part of our world and we’re all gathering here together to support people in need and do whatever we can… we’ll lend our voices and help however possible,” said Celine Dion.

LL Cool J who was also there said “I think it’s a wonderful cause and I’m very excited . I’m honored that Quincy Jones asked me to be a part of history and I hope it all goes well.”

Haiti native Wyclef Jean called the collaboration “a great thing, and it’s giving us a lot of hope for Haiti.”

“It’s a special song. It’s 25 years old now. I know that these guys were already organizing to bring it back, and I think Haiti needs our attention as a nation right now,” said singer and songwriter Jason Mraz. “I think music has the ability to heal, and to bring awareness. If we can all come together and sing in harmony, you know, I think it’s a good thing. I’m happy to be a part of it.” Amen to that!

For her eyes, Jake used shimmery plums and golds.   “I was going for a more colorful version of the traditional smoky eye,” said Jake.  He then used Covergirl’s double ended smoky eye kit Smoky Shadow Blast in purple plum by applying the angled end of the shadow stick, the deeper plum, over her entire lid blending into a smoky halo.  Jake then applied Smoky Blast in bronze fire, using the round golden end to line along her lid and inner corners of her eyes to brighten the look.

Then Jake used several coats of Covergirl’s Lashblast in black to complete Katy’s eyes.  According to Jake, “you can apply coat after coat and not lose separation and elegance.”

And Last but not least…Jake finished Katy’s look off with Covergirl Outlast Lipstain in wild berry wink, a matte color.

The 2010 Grammys Rocked The Staples Center

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards held on Sunday in Los Angeles were nothing short of a ‘diva whose who’, and thankfully the awards were spread out so everybody got something. Still, the big shock of the night was the willowy, baby faced country singer Taylor Swift winning the top Album of the Year, an award usually handed out to a rock veteran.

In addition to winning this prestigious award for her album “Fearless”, Taylor also won three other Grammys. Not bad for someone who is barely of age. The usually cool Swift accepted it with the breathlessness of a giddy teenager, while everyone was on the lookout for another Kayne West moment. Thankfully this time it was all about her.

The beautiful Beyonce took home a record setting six trophies, including Song of the Year for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)”, and pop vocal performance of the year for “Halo,” making her the only female artist to ever win that many awards on one show. Seen here with Rihanna, they both showed off the long and the short of the year’s best Grammy styles.

Britney Spears made a low-key appearance at the ceremony, rushing down the red carpet and into the Staples Center to take her seat just moments before the show began. The pop princess let her sultry Dolce & Gabbana lace dress and body suit, which she paired with earrings from Penny Preville, do all the talking.

The night packed with performances promoting current pop music, moved to a more somber and wistful tone when Prince and Paris Jackson, the two oldest children of the late Michael Jackson, accepted a lifetime achievement award on his behalf. Making a rare public appearance, the two were composed as they made quiet and brief remarks thanking God, their family, their father and his fans. It was really quite touching for everyone who attended.

Prince did most of the talking, but Paris added that her dad had hoped to perform at the Grammys this year as part of his comeback. When they finished, they and their father received a standing ovation. It was a fitting night to honor Michael Jackson, since the shows focus was mostly on flashy fashion looks, and stylish musical hooks. Both areas in which Jackson set the bar when he swept the Grammys for his “Thriller” album in 1983.

A magical night here in Hollywood that never disappoints, and this year’s will definitely go into the BeautyStyleWatch book of great performances, style, and unforgettable moments.
