Best Tips For Beautiful Skin At Any Age

Posted by Beth on 28th February 2010

As we begin to age our skin slowly loses its moisture and elasticity, making our complexion less radiant. Every age brings along it’s own problems, but fear not, there are many effective skin treatments that can help fight these problems at different stages of your life.

Your skin in your twenties is likely to be at its best. Drinking at least 8 to 10 glasses of water a day, exercising regularly, following a good skin care routine and eating healthy will ensure that your skin glows throughout your twenties. This will also ensure that the damage caused to skin by pollution, sun, and time is reduced.

best skin care tips in your 20's

Thing you can do:

  • A deep cleansing treatment can be done every five weeks and is highly suited for those with oily skin. The skin gets nourished in using masks containing Evening Primrose and Rosemary Leaf Oil.
  • A combination of treatments, such as Obagi Medical, along with a home care routine is prescribed to reduce acne, at regular intervals.
  • Rain or shine, never, never, leave the house without sunscreen.
  • No matter how tired you are, be sure to remove your makeup before going to bed. Makeup can clog pores and interfere with your skins rejuvenation process that occurs while you sleep.
  • If you are prone to breakouts choose an oil-free moisturizer instead.

Obagi Medical for beautiful skin

Your skin in your thirties begins to show the first signs of aging when the skin around the eyes, mouth, and neck area starts changing. After 30, the skin’s natural process of exercise slows down and the natural fibers decrease. More water is lost which leads to drying, and decreases the skin’s natural protection barrier. If you’re starting to notice fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration, it’s time to take a good look at how you’re caring for your skin.

best Skin care tips in your 30's

Things you can do:

  • Along with daily sunscreen, your skin needs extra moisture, as it tends to get drier as we age. Consider using a richer moisturizer before applying your sunscreen each morning.
  • To fight damage due to pollution, sun, and stress, use a cream rich in ingredients to regenerate the skin while you sleep.
  • Protect the soft skin around the eye area by using a treatment gel or cream that helps to fight wrinkles, and tighten skin while moisturizing this delicate area. Try ELASTiderm from Obagi, a topical eye treatment that stimulates collagen synthesis while hydrating the skin.
  • A good time to consult a physician for advice on skin care is in your thirties. Skin specialists have access to a variety of treatments to help reduce, or eliminate the signs of aging, and improve the overall appearance of the skin.
Your skin in your forties becomes dryer as you reach the middle to late ’40s, especially if you have neglected it, and have not followed some sort of skin routine. Sunspots, age spots and pigmentation might appear in the late forties, and your maturing skin may require a more aggressive treatment, or even some type of laser procedure, such as Pearl or Pearl Fractional from Cutera. But before investing in any type of treatment, make sure to explore the vast array of anti-aging products available.

How To Keep Your Hair Healthy In The Heat

Posted by Te-see on 28th February 2010

Did you know that every time you take a blow dryer, flat iron or curling iron to your hair that the amount of heat being used is causing major damage?  Well, it’s true…But the good news is that now you can protect your hair with a unique line of haircare formulas that are specifically designed to work with heat.  The secret weapon…HeatSmart Complex…(a silicone molecule combined with a wheat protein molecule).

The Hottest News in Haircare...HeatSmart Complex

Introducing…drum roll pleaseTHERMAFUSEI have personally tried the entire line over the past few weeks to see if this one and only heat protector line was worthy of it’s name…and the answer is yes! THERMAFUSE Coil (curl definer)

Boost does exactly what is says…just spritz on the roots of your hair to create more volume and body than you ever had!  Spray all over your hair for more texture, thickness and support.  Boost is also great to use with curling irons and roller setting.  Use on damp hair for best results.  Key ingredients are similar to the above products.  Retails for $17.

Red Carpet Beauty 101: Sultry Smoky Eyes

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 28th February 2010

Does anyone ever really tire of seeing another gorgeous smoky eye? I know I don’t, but I am smoky eye obsessed, and every time I see another great look, I am off to the bathroom to try on myself. Smoky eyes in pastels will be strong this spring, and with so many options available, creating them will be easier than ever.

That is the real fun behind creating smoky eyes, since they look good in so many different color combination’s. Blues, pastels, purples, and sea tones all do the job quite nicely.

Sexy smoky eyes spring 2010

Make sure to apply the color along the upper and lower lashline and blend into the crease using a sweeping motion with your brush. For a more dramatic look you can extend the color the length of your brow as seen here.

INSIDER TRICK: When using loose shimmer shadows to create this look make sure to tap off your brush before applying the color. This will ensure that you don’t add too much, and allow you to build the color.

How To get A Sunkissed Glow

Posted by Beth on 28th February 2010

I don’t know about you, but whenever I am checking out celebrities on the red carpet I always notice the ones whose skin is glowing. The ones whose dewy complexions are planted on all the front pages, and the ones who obsess over their skin as much as I do.

How to get a Golden Glow

If you’re interested in getting this look, here are some simple and easy steps to follow.

A good hydrating mask is a great way to begin. It will prep your skin, remove any dry patches, and is essential to achieving a beautiful glow. Next, you will want to apply some moisturizer, before covering up any blemishes. Either a concealer stick, or liquid will do, but using a concealer brush will give you the perfect application.

Next, using either a foundation brush, or sponge, apply a touch of foundation, but only where your complexion needs it. This is only to even out your skin tone before the next step.

Once this is done, take your bronzing powder and apply wherever the sun hits your face, ie; your cheekbones, bridge of nose, chin and forehead. Next, add either a rosy or peach tone blush to the apples of your cheeks to make them pop, and finish the look. I usually like to add a touch of loose mineral powder with a brush and lightly go over to soften any lines. A cream bronzer and blush work really beautifully too.

When Is Too Much Plastic Surgery Too Much?

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 27th February 2010

I don’t know about the rest of you, but it seems to me that lately many young girls are altering themselves unnecessarily.  No one is longer happy with what God gave them and everyone wants to look better than everyone else.  Now I am all for enhancing yourself but really now…where do you draw the line and who is telling these girls that they need such adjustments at such an early age???

Unfortunately, once you start nipping & tucking, the up keep is a constant battle…and the younger you start, the longer you will be in and out of your doctor’s office.  I would hate to be a young girl today and I fear for my own daughter who is only 7…I will have to keep a close eye on her through her tweens and teens.  The sad part is that parents are buying their kids larger breasts instead of a new car for their 16th birthdays!!!  Are they also willing to insure their daughters breasts like a car since the chances of them leaking is higher than getting into a car accident.  And not to mention a lot more dangerous to them physically…do your research before you dive into plastic surgery.

The new Heidi Pratt after several surgeries

The new Heidi Montag after several surgeries

After looking at this photo and reading, “I didn’t get them as big as I originally wanted,” said Heidi, I thought…really, if they were any bigger you’d fall over…Her nose has also been redone…again…to the point that she no longer looks like who she was…that’s when you know you’ve gone too far…any respected and knowledgeable doctor will tell you this.  They will also tell you that you want to make subtle changes to enhance what you already have…not make yourself look like a “character” of yourself.

Us women need to join together and embrace who we are in the inside…because that is what matters…looks do fade…Unfortunately, we do get older no matter how many surgeries or injections we have…it’s a fact.  And even if we look young for our age…the men will still glance over to the younger girls…just who they are!  Not fair…but true.

To all my moms out there…if you have daughters make sure you teach them the importance of being a spectacular woman inside…the rest will just happen on its own…

These young girls are future women...embrace them...

The Hottest Smoky Eyes For Spring! Get Them Now!

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 26th February 2010

Spring really is in the air and to prove it, check out these gorgeous eyes in shades of lilac and  pale pink shimmers. What a refreshing alternative to the dark smoky eyes we have been seeing so much of.

Best tips for creating smoky eyes

Get look with ease by applying a lilac shimmer into the crease, and blending with a pale pink shimmer shadow on the lids. Sweep under the eyes as well  using the lilac shadow. Use a touch of the  pale pink shimmer to highlight the brown bone or leave as is. Try the Spring Palette from Get in Line in OMG! in, lilac, plum, and pale pink shimmer.

Line the eyes with a gel eyeliner, and apply along the lashline. Try Onyx Stay Put Gel Liner, $18, and available at beth bender beauty. You can add a soft line underneath and smudge for a softer line.

FINISH the look by applying a tinted moisturizer to even out the skin before giving your cheeks a healthy glow with Desert Rose Powder Blush from bobbibrown.com. Try Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer, available at lauramercier.com. Apply with a foundation brush for a sheer application, and a sponge for extra coverage.

And there you have it. Smoky eyes for spring!

Real Runway Beauty: Get The Look At Home

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 25th February 2010

So many beautiful looks graced this years Fall Fashion Week In New York, and thanks to the experts who created many of these looks, we too can know first hand just how to get them. At the Oscar de la Renta Show “It’s a 1980s cosmetic ad meets today,” said makeup artist Gucci Westman whose look was a full made-up face worthy of any runway.

Fall Beauty looks

To get the gorgeous, golden-brown eye, Westman used Revlon ColorStay Eye Shadow Quad in Coffee Bean, and applied the color above the brow bone layering from lightest to darkest.

Hair stylist Odile Gilbert looked to Blondie for the loose textured look she styled at 3.1 Phillip Lim. For voluminous, matte curls, Gilbert first applied Phyto Professional Intense Volume Mousse before blowing out and curling the hair. The look was quite beautiful, and we thought very feminine.

Hottest hair looks for Fall

Estée Lauder made its fashion week debut at Derek Lam with one of the hottest trends we are seeing for fall: brown lips. Who knew? The brand’s creative makeup director and master artist, Tom Pecheux, used Pure Color Crystal Lipstick in Crystal Beige and dusted the same copper shadow used on the eyes, (due out this fall), over the mouth for a metallic finish.

Derek Lam Fall Beauty

At Zac Posen, Odile Gilbert channeled the downtown Chelsea girl with soft, touchable waves. She spritzed L’Oréal Professionnel Texture Expert Freezing Mist to keep it all in place.

FallBeauty6

The strong, navy blue eye that Tom Pecheux created at Chado Ralph Rucci looked so chic. Want to do it yourself it?  Try beth bender beauty’s Most Wanted Runway Eye’s Eyeliner Kit using the Cat Eyeliner Stencil to create.

Hottest looks Fall Beauty 2010

James Kaliardos kept the focus on the eyes at Diane von Furstenberg with the gorgeous, opalescent butterfly effect he created with shades of blue, plum, and silver shadows. For a similar, more wearble effect, try the Good Girl, Gone Bad Eye Palette from beth bender beauty.

Diane Von Furstenburg Fall Fashion Week 2010

Lucia Peroni beautifully accented the eyes with metallic shades of gold and silver at Jason Wu. To get a similar effect, try MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Filament and Goldmine, and opt for using your fingers to apply instead of an eyeshadow brush.

For any questions on how to create these looks on yourself, feel free to email Beth personally at beth@beautystylewatch.com.
