At the 16th Annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, Paula Patton shimmered in earthy eye shadows. “Using rusts and deep bronzes to create depth on the eyes is especially beautiful on darker complexions, but there are many ways in which to create this look on even the lightest skin tones” says makeup artist Beth Bender, who has worked with Paula and loves her in these colors.

“The trick to creating this look is to layer the colors to add intensity. This will prevent the eyes from looking too muddy or dark”, says Beth, who also suggested a wash of peach on the lids, which works as a highlighter. Once you have your desired depth, instead of lining the eyes as you normally would skip the eyeliner all together, and add lots of mascara, top and bottom. “Defining the eyes with just eye shadows will keep the look light and fresh.”

I am loving these eyes! It seems pretty easy to do thanks to Beth’s great tips. I just checked out the SGB eyeshadow kit and was wondering if they come with eyeliner stencils?

Great red carpet look. Paula Patton looks so beautiful. Didn’t she just have a baby or is she still pregnant? Her makeup is flawless. Big, big thanks to Beth for her awesome tips. I think I may just give this look a try.

I just bought the Original Get in Line smokey eye kit and love it! I have become a smokey eye expert and those eyeliner stencils rock!! I think I am going to treat myself to the SGB Get in line kit too, those colors look beautiful.

After reading this I went and ordered the SGB smokey eye palette. Can’t wait to receive so I can copy her eyes. Yay!!
