Mastering the art of contouring your eyes isn’t just for your next ’80s-inspired Halloween costume. As the beautiful Alicia Keys showed us backstage at the Apollo Theater in New York City. A sophisticated sculpted look can be entirely modern, the trick is to  ‘blend really well’, and to choose colors in the same hue. For example if you are doing a brown eye, then start with a light base and then begin to layer browns, going from a light or medium hue, to dark.

To start, blend a lighter shade up to the crease of your lid, next, top with a taupe hue along the brow bone using a tapered brush, or blender brush. Finish by applying a chocolate shadow, shimmer or matte over the taupe. Use a soft brush for blending and to achieve even more coverage. Check out Just Kidding Eyeshadow Palette from Get in Line.

For a playful touch of light, using your pinkie, or index finger, smudge a yellow gold shimmer shadow to the inner corners of your eyes. This is a favorite of Alicia’s.

The Golden Globes are closing in fast and there’s a lot of Hollywood buzz in the air since the results always carry over to…you guessed it…The Oscars!!!  Who will win…who will lose…but most importantly…who will be dressed to out shine the rest???

Did you know that the entire week leading up to the 67th Annual Golden Globes is spent pampering celebrities and getting them to look fresh as a daisy & as cool as a cucumber?  It’s called “Suites Week,” and it’s held at the infamous Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Celebrities are surrounded by luxury…All the major cosmetic lines, hair salons, designers, etc. are there to help them look and feel their best for the pending Awards Ceremony.  Kind of like Dorothy when she finally makes it to “Oz,” but better…There are beauty suites where celebs get make overs including hair, eyebrow shaping, eye lash extensions, manicure & pedicures and anything else you can imagine.  There are Jewelry Suites filled with spectacular pieces including necklaces, earrings which they can wear to the GGA’s.  Accessory Suites (which every girl dreams of having) filled with shoes, purses, and watches to match any kind of outfit.  All I can say is count me in…and guess what…Beth and I will be there to give you our own personal tour of Suites Week 2010.

A Luxury Suite For The Golden Globes

The Sisters have been invited to cover the HBO Luxury Lounge featuring the L’oreal Paris Beauty Suite.  Gucci, Kate Spade, Solstice Sunglass Boutique, Marc Jacobs, Simmons Jewelry Co. and many more will also be there to celebrate the GGA’s.  While checking out the scene, we’ll stop some of our favorite celebs to ask them what their beauty & fashion concerns are and who knows what else!  So, stay tuned…
