Cross over country artists Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood will both be wearing beauty products from beth bender beauty at this years People’s Choice Awards. The Bender Sisters just got back from the most amazing event of 2010.  CoverGirl icon Queen Latifah and Dania Ramirez, a new face to Covergirl’s list of beautiful women, were both at The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills to announce CoverGirls Clean Makeup for Clean Water campaign.  “It’s been 50 years since Covergirl first introduced Clean Makeup, so it was time to bring it back and connect it with a worthy cause…Clean Water,” said Vince Hudson, global director for Covergirl.

A Toast To "Clean Water" For 2010

According to Queen Latifah, “Let’s start 2010 by giving not taking…” She has been representing CoverGirl Makeup for 8 years now and has been involved with many of their wonderful campaigns. ” This one was a no brainer,” she said.  Queen Latifah is the Ambassador for the “PUR” brand itself.

“Water is something we take for granted and it is essential for us to live.  I got to go back to the Dominican Republic where I grew up afraid to drink the dirty water.  I never knew if I would get sick and if I did I couldn’t go to school.  So on this trip representing Covergirl and Clean Water, I could educate the people on how easy it was to use “PUR” packets and obtain safe drinking water,” said Dania. Each packet of PUR costs only 10 cents and it’s good for 10 liters of purified safe water.

Ugh!!!  That water looked nasty…and to think children in Ethiopia, Africa, Dominican Republic, and many other places are subject to drinking this.  After cutting the packet with a scissor (you don’t want to touch it in case of germs), you pour it into the water and stir for 5 minutes.  All the bacteria will then fall to the bottom.  Once this happens you then pour the entire pitcher through a clean white cloth to filter it.  Let it stand for 20 minutes.  Now you have safe drinking water…(which by the way they are drinking in some of my photos).

CoverGirl has donated $500,000 to this campaign which will help to supply 50 million liters of safe drinking water.  More children die every day from bad drinking water then any other horrible disease.  Right now you can enter a contest at Covergirl to win a trip to Africa with Queen Latifah and Dania Ramirez by submitting a brief video about “what makes you beautiful inside & out.”  2 lucky winners will be chosen.

To finish the look apply a platinum silver shadow on the lid and work the color up into the crease and slightly above. Using an eyeliner stencil hold the Top eyeliner stencil above the eye and sweep along line with a charcoal shadow. Do the same underneath the eye with the Bottom eyeliner stencil. For longer lasting shadow, dampen your eyeliner brush before applying color.
