What is Rosacea? It is a skin condition that affects over 14 million Americans and is characterized by a reddening of the cheeks, nose and chin and/or forehead. It may also include the appearance of papules & pustules which are acne like pimples. Unfortunately, there is no cure for rosacea but there are treatments to keep it under control as well as protecting your skin from getting worse.
I’ve decided to document Gina Tanner, a 30 something Entertainment Lawyer & mother of 3 who has tried all kinds of treatments to get rid of her rosacea. Here is Gina’s story…
“I have a genetic history of rosacea in my family. My Dad had it, and so did his father. Many on my father’s side have the “ruddy” skin. My mom does not have it. I have tried many treatments from some potato based concoction from a doctor in Mexico to an antifungal medication from another doctor in Mexico. My father was advised to use a dandruff shampoo on his face to reduce the redness. I tried these, and although they all had good qualities, they seemed harsh on my sensitive skin. Successfully, a couple of years ago, I had (6) treatments from Dr. Rafael Nach in Beverly Hills for rosacea and melasma using a process called Fotofacial (with pulsed light). It was highly effective getting rid of the melasma and reducing the rosacea, but once in the sun again, the redness returns.”
Gina will be using the Rosaclear System by Obagi Medical Products for several weeks and I will include photos and a written progress report for all of you to view.
Please follow Gina’s journey while she battles rosacea and gets it under her control with Obagi!!!
