Shiseido’s Artistic Director Dick Page has been keeping himself very busy at Fashion Week in NYC. Armed with an expert team of artists, and Shiseido’s line of newest beauty products for 2010 and fall 2009, he has been creating beautiful looks for many of the shows featured at this years spring fashion shows.

The look for the Zero + Maria Cornejo show was in Dick’s words “Leftover makeup” look and “touch of sun”.

Starting with the cheeks, Dick used the Luminizing Satin Face Color Tea Rose (RS302) from the Spring 2010 Collection and applied on the models’ bare skin, just on the cheeks and nose to give a sun-kissed look.

For the eyes, Dick lined the top and bottom lash line with the Smoothing Eyeliner Pencil in Brown (BR602) from the 2009 Fall Makeup Collection.  To give the look a little bit of slip, he applied a dab of the Accentuating Color Stick in Champagne Flush (S3) underneath the eyes. Once the lashes were curled, Dick applied a touch of the Perfect Mascara in Black (BK901) from the Fall 2009 Makeup Collection.

For the eyebrows, Dick used the Natural Eyebrow Pencil from the Fall 2009 Makeup Collection only if the eyebrows were very light, and brushed up the hairs simultaneously.

Lips were done with Perfect Rouge Tender Sheer Lipstick in Pout (RS326) from the Spring 2010 Collection. It was carefully applied like a lip liner and patted to fill in the rest of the lip creating a soft, translucent look.

Another successful look, another successful show!

Get Naomi Watt’s Gorgeous Red Carpet Look

Posted by The Girls in the BSW Beauty Dept. on 18th September 2009

Naomi Watts, who stars in the new movie “Mother and Child,” made her mark on the red carpet at the movie’s screening at the Toronto International Film Festival. Looking as lovely as always, and glowing with a gorgeous look created by mark celebrity makeup artist Mai Quynh. Mai was nice enough to share with us how she created Naomi’s gorgeous red carpet look.

Get Naomi Watt's look from the red carpet

To begin she started by applying mark Face Expert Flawless Touch Makeup in Natural with a foundation brush to her skin. She then blended mark Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter in Light under her eyes and mark Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer in Fair/Light around her nose. Next Mai applied mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Nude to her cheeks using a foundation brush. An absolute fabulous idea for the perfect application. Once the foundation and creams were applied, she set everything by dusting mark Powder Buff Natural Skin Foundation in Natural with a powder brush. “And finally, to give her a warm glow, I swept mark Good Glowing Mosaic Blush in Sandy to the apples of her cheeks.”

“For her eyes, I mixed mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Biscotti and Tiki and applied it from the lash line to the crease, fading the colors upward using an angled contour eyeshadow brush.  I also smudged Biscotti and Tiki underneath her lower lash line, using an eyeliner brush.  I then added mark Eyemarker in Jet to the top of her lashes and blended so that the line would be faint.  To finish the eyes, I curled her lashes and added two coats of mark Lash Splash Hook Up Waterproof Mascara in Black.”

And last but not least Mai completed Naomi’s beautiful look by applying mark Dew Drenched Moistulicious Lip Color in Rain to her lips.

The entire line of Mark Cosmetics are available at meetmark.com and the best part is, the prices are as attractive and fabulous as the colors!

Marc by Marc Spring Fashion Week New York 2010

“Punk rock”, and “Painted on lip color” were the inspiration taken from the bright clothes in the collection that made their way down the runway in New York. Lips were prepped with Aquafor before applying any color to them.  Next, the Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Fuschia (RS320) from the Spring 2009 Line was applied, followed by a high pigment bright pink powder.  The lips were completed with a dusting of the Translucent Loose Powder from the Fall 2009 Collection.

The eyes were left completely natural.  Dick then used the Natural Eyebrow Pencil from the Fall 2009 Collection if needed. And there you have it. Beauty tips for Spring 2010 right from the runway in NYC!

Get Katy Perry’s Look From The VMA’s 2009

Posted by Beth on 18th September 2009

What can we say about Jake Bailey, not only is he the sweetest and cutest makeup artist evah, but his eye and talent for creating looks on his celebrity clients, have made him one of the most sought after artists in Los Angeles, New York, Europe, and Asia.

On Sunday he was busy in NYC getting Katy Perry ready for the VMA’s, and we were lucky enough to get the scoop from Jake himself. Jake said that Katy’s dress was an inspiration and definitely helped to decide what look would work best. “She wore an outrageous metal spiked mesh mini by “The Blonds.” The dress reminded me of a Gianni Versace book I have called “Rock and Royalty” and the powerful iconic images in it. I wanted the eyes to evoke that type of decadent glamour and of course complement the sparkle of the dress with a little sparkle on the eyes.”

So with that being said, Jake started by applying some NARS Oil Free foundation as Katy’s base, and a pink shimmer Blush for some glow. “We kept the lips matte so the emphasis was on her eyes, but they definitely were not without color! For the carpet, Katy wore a matte coral and for her performance and after party, she wore a matte red.”

Katy’s eyes were created with black and gunmetal shadows, silver glitter and liquid liner. “A great trick to wearing glitter like this says Jake, is to blend a little cream shadow onto the area where you want to place the glitter. You should do this once your eye makeup is finished.” A great tip for anyone who loves glitter! Jake gently applied the glitter to Katy’s eyelids using his fingertips, and suggested applying just a little at a time in order to avoid a mess.

Once he was finished, he used scotch tape to remove any excess glitter that had fallen on her face. This was done by pressing the tape gently into the skin which picks it right up. Katy’s lashes were ultra long and gorgeous thanks to COVERGIRL LashBlast Length Mascara. I can attest to this. This mascara is the beauty bomb!!

For Katy’s performance Jake chose a long-wear lip color so that it didn’t go all over her, or the mic when she was on stage. “I used COVERGIRL Outlast All-Day Lipcolor in Ever Red-dy. I also went for a long-wear lipcolor when I sent her off to the after party to be sure she looked good all night long.” For an everyday stain look, try COVERGIRL Outlast Lipstain in Wild Berry Wink.

There you have it. So the next time you’re looking for sexy eyes, and lashes that get you noticed, you’ll know just how to get them! Thank you Jake!

Mwah!!
