Giving Back Is Prive Salon’s Style
Posted by Te-see on 21st May 2009
On Monday, May 18, Prive Salon on Beverly Blvd. in Hollywood dedicated their entire salon and services to “Women of Domestic Violence.” Prive has become well known for their generosity and helping the people in their surrounding communities.
Stephanie Romero headed this event with Beatrice by her side to make sure every woman was treated like a “Queen” for a day. They were given a complimentary “Interview Package” which included: Hair cut, color and style. Many other people such as myself and Beth donated clothes. Beth also was kind enough to donate her famous “Get In Line” eye stencil kit (which helps to create the perfect smoky eye, cat eye, and upper/bottom eye liner in seconds) to each of the women.
I got to talking with a few of these gals and found out that most of them were in abusive relationships. They had several children with their abusive partners but were not legally married. One had an alcoholic boyfriend who promised over and over again that he would change. Well, that never happened so she finally found the courage to leave. “I wanted to be my own person,” she said. Good for her!!! That was pretty much what all of these women had to say. They found their way to a Women’s Shelter and are now protected as well as their children from further abuse.
These strong women impressed me. They have not only found the courage to stand up for themselves but many of them are in college earning a degree to better their lives. A big Thanks to Prive Salon and it’s entire staff!!!
Peace…always
