Navy eyes are all the rage, and Hollywood stars like Zoe Saldana are lighting up the red carpet with varying shades of deep indigo. Intense navy eye color brightens the whites of your eyes, and adds a glamorous look on basic black rims.

BSW BEAUTY TIP: As much as we love Amy Winehouse and her famous Cat Eyes, be careful of going overboard with this look. You want to keep the liner exotic, but subtle like Zoe. To create a precise line, and perfect cat eyes, use your cat eyeliner stencil from Get in Line, and lay it over your eye. Using the fuller end of the brush dip into your shadow and sweep across the eye. Once you have the thickness and length you desire set with a navy gel liner. This Mother’s Day why not do something different for the mother in your life…I’m sure she’s tired of flowers and candy like me!  Why not mix it up a little at Melange Apothecary 13632 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, Ca. 91423.

Denise Estrada, the owner of Melange, will be serving appetizers and lots of mimosas on Saturday, May 2 & 9 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm while you help your mother create her very own fragrance.  No reservations are necessary.  Just stop on by and for $40 your mother can take home a Body Cream & Perfume Roller blended all by herself (with a little help from the expert, Denise).  I recently got a personal glimpse of Melange’s May event.  All I can say is WOW!!!

Denise Estrada has been blending fragrances for over 20 years.  She started out as an esthetician and would blend botanicals & active ingredients into her skincare products.  The Melange experience was one to remember.  Denise served me several trays of various scents.

I had to smell each one and put them in the middle of the table if I liked them.  Once I was done smelling Denise put various blends of what I had chosen onto little paper strips to smell.  I narrowed it down from 20 some odd scents to a handful.  My final choices were then put into a roller perfume and a body wash which I absolutely LOVE…

Denise was so friendly and we chatted about everything.  I felt like I had known her for years.  I really think you should check out Melange Apothecary…not just for Mother’s Day…

This spring why not embrace the colors of the season, and instead of your usual dark smoky eye, try one in a shade of purple, blue, or green like Thandi Newton. Start by rimming the upper and lower lash line with a black pencil. We love BADgal Waterproof Eyeliner from benefit, it’s fab!

Next apply the violet shadow on your eyelids and a little under the lower lash line. Wear the color close to your lash line and smudge it well—that way it looks more modern and chic. I also like using a colored eye pencil and layering it on top of a black pencil. I do this alot when I am working. It gives your makeup a more rock and roll edge.
MY BEAUTY TIP for creating these gorgeous eyes is to choose lighter tones like aqua, lavender, and turquoise for light to medium complexions, and colors like sky blue, violet, and teal for medium to darker complexions.
