I subscribe. I realized that when I hit 50, everything was going South, so I started a mini-beauty regimen It’s weird to look in the mirror and see your parents staring back at you (some days it’s like my parents when they’re 150 years old). I guess I started getting beauty conscious when the beauty faded.

  6. BeautyTalk Says:

Subscribed to beauty style watch and already was following you on twitter (skincare_beauty)!
My story about how I realized that i needed to take care of my skin is not funny (sorry :-) . I had problem skin as a teenager and it took a lot of effort to finally achieve clean balanced skin. When this happened I realized how wonderful, empowering and inspiring it is to feel good about yourself. And then I realized that I needed to start investing time and effort and the little money I had into regular skin care now and not later when it may be too late… I think taking regular care of your skin is one of the best investments a woman can do for herself in her life!

One morning looked in the mirror and face looked “droopy” not “cheery”. Thought it may have been that 3rd martini the night previous but no such luck – 40 is approaching fast.

  13. Mary D Says:

Hi, I just activated my subscription.
Now here is my funny story about how I finally realized I needed to take care of my skin:
While I’ve always used hydrating lotions on my face, it wasn’t until I happened to catch a sideways view of my chicken skin neck in the harsh mirror of a department store that I finally realized something needed to be done! I guess I just never paid much attention to my neck area… but omg… I didn’t know you could have bat wings under your chin!!! So now I don’t neglect the neck area and I’ve ceased to do the tanning thing.

  14. kathleen haas Says:

I spent much of my youth tanning myself to death. Well when I started to get huge brown spots on myself I realized….Uh oh….That wasn’t a good idea!!

  16. mimi Says:

Skin Care Regimen = I’m lucky I started early thanks to my BFF!!!

When I was about 15, on vacation in Cape Cod, getting ready to go to the beach to check out all of the gorgeous boys, I saw the biggest break out on my chin!!! (it must have been the teen angst over the prospect of meeting the boys!) I completely freaked out! As far as skin care went, I was a “doe in the headlights”… I turned to my bff, a self proclaimed “it girl” who knew everything from fashion to make up to skin care , well she put me on a skin care regimen and have had the greatest skin ever since! If, all the girls had her as a bff, we would all have amazing skin care regimens.
    I salute you, chickie!

  22. Kayte CookWatts Says:

Well, I have had many goofs in the process of trying to find a good skin care routine, but nothing made me feel stupider than when I gave myself a chemical burn.I was 16, and fighting terrible acne. I probably would have poured gas on my face if I had read that it would give me clear skin.I read in Cosmo that there were a lot of ways that you could save money on beauty products by using some cheaper short cuts. They said that nail polish remover could make an excellent toner and would clear up your skin really quick. Sadly,I did not dab it on, I layered it on- and waited for the magic to happen. the end result was a lobster red face that didn’t calm down for three months. The worst part was explaining exactly how and why I had done this to myself and watch people shake their heads with pity.

  23. Maggie Says:

I had my passport photo taken and saw an old lady in the picture with not very good skin, since then I have taken more care of my skin.

Pop quiz: What condition can cause fatigue, pain, changes in skin color, aging effects, memory problems, dementia, wild hormone fluctuations, bone loss, nausea, carpal tunnel, and possible death yet millions actively pursue this condition every day?

Yep, never say never, I said not me! for years and one day, I said okay! And touchdown! Goal! Score! First time trying out of the gate I booked passage for a wonderful boy and provided comfy transport for him for nine months before delivering him to the world. Also delivering my first gray hairs, dry skin, rosacea imbued skin, quotation marks near my mouth even when not saying “something sarcastic” aftr spending 36 years not smoking, drinking, doing drugs or spending long periods in the sun and getting plenty of rest and little stress and having it pay off until…the miracle of life.

LOL – don’t get me wrong, he is my world and all that I’ve developed as a result I would never trade for life without him. Even the offer of eternal youth in exchange for not raising him. And now, nearing my 39th birthday, I’m not experiencing panic but anticipation for the future. And delight in the present.

Some of the clues that told me I needed to get serious about my skin care.

Waking up in the morning and still having pillow lines indented in my cheeks two hours later.

    Now I was really crushed!

This was my First kiss guy! I memory I treasured in y heart! He did not recognize who I was!
Ok! So I am twice as big as I was…….but I did not thnk my face had changed!
Well maybe now I don’t wear a half ton of !1980’s makeup…but still~HE DID NOT KNOW WHO I WAS!

I must have spent $100 that next day on face products, anti aging products & stuff.

    I was so depressed.

    FYI~When I told him who I was……HE WAS EMBRASSED & EVEN BLUSHED A LITTLE.
I hope he felt like hell about it!
