Celebrity Beauty At The 2009 Golden Globes

As we settle into 2009, what better way to begin the new year in beauty & fashion then with The People’s Choice Awards, and The Golden Globes. This year at the Golden Globes there was lots of black eyeliner, smoky eyes, sunkissed skin, and bold red lips that screamed out “notice me, notice me”. Makeup, hair, and fashion stylists were busy all day making sure that every celebrity to hit the red carpet looked gorgeous.
So much fun and our favorite awards show that we look forward to covering every year. Strapless gowns in creams, blacks, rich blues, and reds, looked stunning on Kate Winset, Angelina Jolie, Eva Longoria, and Mary- Louise Parker.
Debra Messing, star of USA’s Starter Wife looked beautiful, and her makeup was all about the eyes. Created by celebrity artist Carol Shaw, fully rimmed and smoky were the focus of her very striking look. Using a nude shadow, Carol applied the color from the lashline to the browbone and layered with a rosy gold shimmer all over the eyelid. Yes ladies, you can wear shimmer on eyes in your 40’s. It’s the colors that you should adjust, but never the look.
Next Carol applied a jade green shadow in the crease and smudged it under the eyes as well. For extra drama she applied a charcoal shadow to the outer corner of the eyes and blended up into crease. To finish the look black eyeliner was added to the inside rim of Debra’s eyes and two generous coats of rich black mascara for lashes that could not be ignored.
I know what you’re saying, “I can’t do this“, but I promise you can, and to make it even easier you can use the Smoky Eye Stencils from the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit and create them in minutes.
Drew Barrymore made quite the entrance with her tousled ‘do. Jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz, and dramatic eyeliner that is not only a hot trend for spring, but is an instant way to make your eyes pop. The thick line drawn across her upper eyelid created a sultry, Marilyn Monroe effect that was on point.
Jennifer Lopez wore a simple high bun that with the right makeup beautifully accented her features. Case in point her strategically placed bronzer contoured her face and gave her a golden goddess glow. Also seen here with fully rimmed eyes that were done in soft shimmers of golden bronze and rosy gold. A gorgeous nude lip was the perfect shade to complete this look.
Angelina Jolie, stunning as usual. It doesn’t take much to get her red carpet ready. Lately I have been loving the way she looks, and of course in love with her Cat Eyes. Her ever so subtle waves proved that easy hair is just as desirable on the red carpet as is a more complicated and traditional updo. Her look was created by using a blow dryer, round brush, and Bohemian Beach Spray from David Babaii, who also styled her hair for the evening. After blow drying with the brush he twisted large sections of hair around the ends of the brush and sprayed each with the beach spray. Using the dryer’s low speed, he gave each section a blast of warm air to set the soft waves. Her cat eyes were created by starting at the center of the eye and extending the liner out beyond her lashes. If you haven’t heard already, cat eyes just got alot easier using a cat eyeliner stencil. Just lay the stencil over your eyes and fill in with color. You won’t believe how quickly you can do them, and they look amazing.
More to come I promise. So many celebrities and so many things to share….so much fun:-)
Kisses,
B
